The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Erikson (GB), ridden by J.M. Sheridan, and trained by Denis Gerard Hogan. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer's Authorised Representative, Ms. Meghan Donovan. J.M. Sheridan, stated that his instructions were to jump out, get his mount travelling and to do the best he could. He said his mount travelled very green throughout, ran wide off the bend, ran on the one spot from three or four furlongs out and made a bad noise in the closing stages. Ms. Donovan confirmed the instructions given and expressed her satisfaction with the ride given that the animal was making a bad noise post race long after pulling up. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Erikson was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered in relation to the running and riding of Erikson. They were however, satisfied that J.M. Sheridan was in breach of Rule 213 in that he had failed to report at the first instance something that may have affected the running of his mount. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended J.M. Sheridan for one raceday.
