At the request of the Stewards, J.M. Sheridan, rider of Erikson (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped and travelled for about one and a half furlongs, ran very green on the ground, galloped on the spot in the closing stages and made a noise late on.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined The Pocket Flyer, trained by R.P.Cody, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame post race.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Erikson (GB), ridden by J.M. Sheridan, and trained by Denis Gerard Hogan. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer's Authorised Representative, Ms. Meghan Donovan. J.M. Sheridan, stated that his instructions were to jump out, get his mount travelling and to do the best he could. He said his mount travelled very green throughout, ran wide off the bend, ran on the one spot from three or four furlongs out and made a bad noise in the closing stages. Ms. Donovan confirmed the instructions given and expressed her satisfaction with the ride given that the animal was making a bad noise post race long after pulling up. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, who stated that Erikson was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations offered in relation to the running and riding of Erikson. They were however, satisfied that J.M. Sheridan was in breach of Rule 213 in that he had failed to report at the first instance something that may have affected the running of his mount. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended J.M. Sheridan for one raceday.

The Stewards interviewed Ms. Meghan Donovan, Authorised Representative for Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer, in relation to his charge Dutch Schaefer, which was declared to run today on soft ground that had since changed to heavy, having been withdrawn from The Litteton Handicap at Thurles two days ago on ground that was described as yielding, good to yielding at declaration time which subsequently changed to yielding, yielding to soft in places. Evidence was heard from the Ms. Donovan, who stated stated that the trainer was hoping for much slower ground than yielding to soft at Thurles and withdrew the animal because of this. She added that the trainer was of the view that heavy ground was the preferred ground going forward until such time as Dutch Schaefer told them different. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
