330C John Thomas McNamara Series(QR)Mdn HdleThe Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Will Wilde (FR), ridden by Mr D. Doyle, placed second, and Newtown Rambler, ridden by Mr J.H. Williamson, placed first, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr. D. Doyle stated that the winner crossed him, taking him off his line and causing him to lose his momentum. He added that he felt it had cost him a length. Mr. J. H. Williamson stated that his mount had hung left throughout and he had done all he could. He added that his mount went again when the second got to his boot. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Newtown Rambler had caused interference to Will Wilde he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident at the third flight involving Artic Lane, ridden by Mr C.W. Reddy, who was unseated, and Boston Rover, ridden by Mr J.M. Halford, placed sixth, where it appeared Arctic Lane jumped into Boston River. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that the incident was caused by Boston River jumping left as Artic Lane was landing and there was no riding offence and no further action was warranted.
