The Raceday Stewards informed Ciaran Murphy, trainer of Orange Avenue, that a repeat performance in the behavior of his charge who remained in the stalls after they had opened and refused to race may render the animal liable to suspension.
J. Kearney, rider of Orange Avenue, trained by Ciaran Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stayed in the stalls and refused to race.
K.G. Kennedy, rider of Convincing, trained by John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left in the straight.
Ciaran Murphy, trainer of Orange Avenue, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was showing signs of being in season post race and felt it was a contributing factor in his charge refusing to race.
235D Irish Stallion Farms EBF M'dnA.J. Slattery, rider of Faoladh, trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got tight for room down the back straight.
S.B. Kelly, rider of Tangapour, trained by J.P. Murtagh, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got tight for room after a furlong.
R. Whearty, rider of Queens Fury (FR), trained by Adrian Murray, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount went left in the closing stages.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the back straight involving Bernard Shaw (USA), ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed first, Faoladh, ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed sixth, Tangapour, ridden by S.B. Kelly, placed third, and Queens Fury (FR), ridden by R. Whearty, placed fifth. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. W.M. Lordan stated that there was a slow early pace and some horses momentarily latched on and got tight for room. A.J. Slattery stated that the pace in front of him slowed up and the horse on his outside moved slightly inwards. S.B. Kelly stated that he did not want to make the running, took back to follow the favourite and when the pace slowed up his mount ran very green. R. Whearty stated that he made the running and was clear of the horses behind him. Having viewed a recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.
235E1 Bar One Racing Guaranteed Multiples HcapThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Barley Cove, trained by Edward Lynam, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be lame on the left hind leg post race.
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from A. Oliver, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Marble Angel, placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that his charge appeared to appreciate a step up in trip on this occasion which he felt had brought about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation offered.
D.P. McDonogh, rider of Boadicea Belle, trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount lost its action.
235E2 Bar One Racing Guaranteed Multiples HcapThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Stop On Red, trained by Miss Katy Brown, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be coughing post race, possibly as a result of kick back.
235F Irish Stallion Farms EBF Red God H'capThe Raceday Stewards requested a report from M. Halford & T. Collins, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Ameerat Jumaira (GB), placed first, as compared with its most recent form. M. Halford stated that his charge is a leggy sort that was never comfortable when racing at Ballinrobe on its previous run and felt a more suitable track on this occasion had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation offered.
