Turf Club Calendar Notices - Week 27

The following trainers were fined €200 in each case for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provisions of Rule 194(v) (vi):- Mr. Gordon Elliott for His Excellency (stiff); Cosmic Wonder (stone bruise) and Cause Of Causes (USA) (stone bruise) at Gowran Park on 24th June; Mr. John J. Nallen for Minella Duchess (lame) at Gowran Park on 24th June and Mr. Oliver McKiernan for Whodoyouthink (temperature) at Gowran Park on 24th June.

The following trainer was fined €500 for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provisions of Rule 194(v):- Mr. Gordon Elliott.

Wexford Meeting, 20th June 2012

148C Curracloe Handicap Hurdle & Mr. M. Flannery, trainer of Holy Show, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 2nd July that his charge was found to be lame post race.

Gowran Park Meeting, 24th June 2012

153B Paulstown Maiden Hurdle & Mr. J.F. O’Shea, trainer of Miracle Mile (GB), reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that his charge was found to be in respiratory distress post race.

153G Joe Bollard Memorial I.N.H. Flat Race & Mr. J.F. O’Shea, trainer of Kilcooley Castle, reported to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer that his charge was found to be injured post race.

 Kilbeggan Meeting, 25th June 2012

The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: P.T. Enright replaced E.F. Power (injured) on Rua Nua, trained by Mr. James Daniel Dullea (fourth race).

154A www.kilbegganraces.com Maiden Hurdle & Miss K.J. Harrison, rider of Mireya, trained by Mrs C. Harrison, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that her mount lost her position early on. She also reported that she felt the ground was too dead for her mount and that the horse may prefer better ground.

154B Fay Bookmakers Handicap Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ballyhoura, trained by Mr. C.A. Murphy, was found to have lost his right shoe in running. Samples were taken for analysis.

154D Hurley Family Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards fined Mr. Michael C. Griffin, trainer of Cailin Ceol, €65 for failing to fit a tongue tie to his charge prior to entering the parade ring for this race.

154E Tyrrellspass Novice Steeplechase & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Carlito Brigante, trained by Mr. Gordon Elliott, was found to be distressed post race.

154F Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Handicap Steeplechase & J.R. Barry, rider of Sea Stallion, trained by Mr. Stephen Ryan, reported to the Stewards’ Secretaries that his mount was pulled up lame in this race.

154G Loughnagore Beginners Steeplechase & B.J. Cooper, rider of Canaly, trained by Mr. D.T. Hughes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled, made a bad mistake and was therefore pulled up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Canaly was found to be post race normal.

Ballinrobe Meeting, 26th June 2012

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: the following riders replaced C.D. Maxwell (injured):- T.C. Carroll rode Georgie (GB), trained by Mr. M.O. Cullinane (sixth race) and R.T. Dunne rode Royal Chukka, trained by Mrs Denise Foster (eighth race); I.J. Brennan rode Painted Fingers (reserve), trained  by Mr. Timothy Doyle (fourth race).

The Stewards fined the following trainer €200 in respect of his non-runner: Mr. P.J. McKenna for Talenti (transport difficulties).

155B Michael & Peggy Dowd Memorial Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from F. Lynch, rider of Daytime Dreamer, regarding the riding of his mount, which ran on well to finish third. F. Lynch reported that he was instructed to hold his mount up until the last 50 yards and produce him with a timed challenge. He added that the horse travelled well to four furlongs out, but from that point he was unable to make any progress because of a bunched field. He said he did not want to make up ground riding possibly four wide. He said he had to sit and wait until rounding the final bend to produce his mount to challenge wide and the gelding ran on well to finish third.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted its content.

S. Foley, rider of Liberty Love, trained by Mr. Shaun Harley, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount struggled on the ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Liberty Love was found to be post race normal.

155C Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. M.J. Grassick, trainer of the winner Allusive Power, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s previous runs in 2012 in handicaps at Gowran Park over one mile on soft ground and more recently at the same venue over one mile on soft to heavy ground when beaten 16 lengths and 27 lengths respectively.
Mr. Grassick reported that his charge is a small filly who has run in 16 runner handicaps on both occasions and was intimidated and knocked about in those two races. He said that the filly was comfortable in today’s small five runner field and was able to switch off in running. This, he said, had a big bearing on her performance today. He added that, in his opinion, she can be temperamental.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted its content. 

155D Coleman Quarries Handicap & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Steel Toe Cap, trained by Mr. A. Oliver, was found to be  post race normal.

155F John Madden & Sons Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards received a report from Mr. J.R. Banahan, Senior Turf Club Starter, which stated that he called a false start at the first attempt to start as he was a few seconds short of the correct off. He explained in the report that, having told the riders to walk in slowly, they approached the tape quicker than required and ahead of time.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted its content. 

S.J. Hassett, rider of Nurse Ryan, trained by Mr. Martin Hassett, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled and shortened her stride when straightening up for the final hurdle. He also reported that, in his opinion, the mare needs fast ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Nurse Ryan was found to be post race normal.

D.E. Mullins, rider of Sultans Of Swing, trained by Mr. T.J. O’Mara, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount came off the bridle early on, never travelled and was therefore pulled up.

155G(i) Mask Pavillion Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (Division One) & The Stewards interviewed B. Hayes, rider of Harangue, placed third, concerning his use of the whip.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that B. Hayes was in breach of Regulation 10 2 (f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for seven race days (10th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th July).

155G(ii) Mask Pavillion Opportunity Handicap Hurdle (Division Two) & The Stewards enquired into an incident after the final hurdle involving Yachvili, ridden by L.A. McKenna, placed second, and Pennys Tune, ridden by R.J. Jones, placed third, after it appeared that Yachvili received severe contact from Pennys Tune.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.J. Jones had ridden carelessly (Rule 214) and they therefore suspended him for three race days (10th, 13th, and 15th July).  

The Stewards interviewed Killian Moore, rider of The Millar Murray, trained by Mr. Gerard Keane, concerning his riding after he appeared to ride a finish with one full circuit still to be completed.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who admitted that he completely mistook the number of circuits that had to be completed despite having walked the course beforehand.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Killian Moore had breached Rule 212 by failing to take all reasonable and permissible steps to attain his best possible placing. The Stewards therefore suspended him for ten race days (10th, 13th, 15th, 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 22nd and 23rd July) and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee.  

Naas Meeting, 27th June 2012

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: J.A. Heffernan rode Sovereign Secure (reserve), trained by Mr. Peter McCreery (fourth race) and M.M. Monaghan rode Whatyoumaycallit (reserve), trained by Mr. Daniel Miley (fourth race).

156A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden & The Stewards enquired into two separate cases of possible interference inside the final two furlongs. The first case involved Strapless, ridden by K.J. Manning, placed second, and Lady Gosford, ridden by S. Foley, placed fourth. The second case involved Pussycat Lips, ridden by S.A. Gray, placed third, and Nurpur, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed fifth. 
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. The Stewards did, however, give C.D. Hayes the benefit of the doubt in his contribution to interference caused and strongly advised him to ride with more care.
Mr. James Stack, Authorised Representative for Mr. T. Stack, trainer, also attended this enquiry with their Apprentice S.A. Gray.

C.D. Hayes, rider of Nurpur, trained by Mr. Kevin Prendergast, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hit ridges in this race and became unbalanced.

156B Follow Naas Racecourse On Facebook Maiden & K.J. Manning, rider of Legal Farce, trained by Mr. J.S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount found nothing off the bridle.

156C(i) Play The Tote Placepot Handicap (Division One) & N.G. McCullagh, rider of Pre Tax Profit, trained by Mr. Reginald Roberts, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly left in this race. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Pre Tax Profit was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.

F.M. Berry, rider of Go On Murt, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount settled well but was unable to get a clear run until later on in the race.

M.C. Hussey, rider of Carrowbane, trained by Mr. John C. McConnell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that the bit went through the horse’s mouth and that the horse hung badly to the left.

G.F. Carroll, rider of Cinnin Oir, trained by Mr. D.J. Barry, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount acted up in the stalls and missed the break.

156C(ii) Play The Tote Placepot Handicap (Division Two) & The Stewards enquired into an incident about one furlong from the finish involving July Revolution, ridden by F. Lynch, placed third, San Jose City, ridden by J.F. Egan and Sli Na Croi, ridden by D.M. Grant, both unplaced, after it appeared that the latter received a severe check. 
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. 
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that F. Lynch had ridden carelessly (Rule 214) and they therefore suspended him for two race days (11th and 12th July).  

156D Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Naas Oaks Trial & C O’ Donoghue, rider of Demurely, trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount became tired in this race. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Demurely was found to be post race normal.

F.M. Berry, rider of Dane Street (USA), trained by Mrs J. Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost her action and  did not handle today’s ground.

156E Xeretec Supporting North Kildare Chamber Handicap & The Stewards enquired into two separate incidents inside the final two furlongs. The first incident involved the winner Boom To Bust, ridden by G.F. Carroll, and Maundy Money (GB), ridden by F. Lynch, unplaced. The second incident involved Cnocan Diva, ridden by S.A. Gray, placed second, Ballivor, ridden by J.P. Murtagh, placed third, Sean Og Coulston, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed fifth, and Along Came Casey, ridden by S.M. Gorey, unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised G.F. Carroll to ride with more care in relation to the first incident. The Stewards took no further action in relation to the second incident.
Mr. David Marnane, representing Mr. T. Stack, Master of S.A. Gray also attended this enquiry.
Mr. Stephen Collins, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry. 

156F Bet €10 Get €10 On tote.com Handicap & C.D. Hayes, rider of Summer Knight, trained by Mr. A. Oliver, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost his action in the straight.

P.J. Smullen, rider of Harathea (GB), trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung in this race.

Curragh Meeting, 29th June 2012

158B Sycamore Lodge Equine Hospital Maiden & J.P. O’Brien, rider of Wonderful, trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not handle today’s ground.

Adrian O’Shea, rider of Shirley’s Schmidt, trained by Mrs A.M. O’Shea, reported to a Turf Club Official that his mount became stuck in the stalls and stumbled on exiting them.

158C Eflow Rewards Apprentice Derby & The Stewards interviewed M.A. Enright, rider of the winner Shamiran, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M.A. Enright was in breach of R10(2)(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (14th and 15th July).

The Stewards interviewed C.P. Hoban, rider of Paddy The Celeb, placed third, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that C.P. Hoban was in breach of R10(2)(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for four race days (14th, 15th, 16th and 17th July) and referred him to R.A.C.E for a one day tuition on the correct use of the whip.
 
158D Derby Festival Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Handicap & J.P. Murtagh, rider of Long Journey Home, trained by Mr. John M. Oxx, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung in running. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Long Journey Home was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.

J.P. O’Brien, rider of Harrison’s Cave (GB), trained by Mr. A.P. O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled in this race.

158F Today FM Handicap & The Stewards fined Mr. Eoin Doyle, trainer, €130 for failing to present a passport in respect of Knight Eagle to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer as required by the Instructions and Notices which pertain to Identification and Vaccination Checks.

Curragh Meeting, 30th June 2012

159B Woodies D.I.Y. Sapphire Stakes & The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the final furlong involving Katla, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed third, Secret Witness (GB), ridden by Luke Morris, placed fourth, and Mirza (GB), ridden by F.M. Berry, placed sixth, after it appeared that interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. However, the Stewards found both W.J. Lee and Luke Morris to be in breach of Rule 214 in that they had ridden carelessly. Having taken their respective records in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended them for one race day (14th July). Furthermore, the Stewards advised both riders regarding the accuracy of their evidence.

159C Dubai Duty Free Millennium Millionaire European Breeders Fund Fillies Handicap & F.M. Berry, rider of One Fine Day, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran flat. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that One Fine Day was found to be post race normal.

159D Dubai Duty Free Full Of Surprises Railway Stakes & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the final furlong involving the winner Probably, ridden by W.J. Lee, Tiger Stripes (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed third, and Ayaar, ridden by P.J. Smullen, placed fourth, after it appeared that interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found C.D. Hayes to be in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for three race days (14th, 15th and 16th July).
Mr. N.B. Wachman, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry.

159G Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Handicap & W.M. Lordan, rider of Castle Bar Sling (USA), trained by Mr. T.J. O’Mara, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost his action in this race.

Tracey Collins trainer of Indian Landing, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge scoped badly post race.

159H Paddy Power Sprint & Mr. J.A. Nash, trainer of Luisant (GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to be lame behind post race.

Curragh Meeting, 1st July 2012

160F Boodles Diamond Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Possible (GB), ridden by F.M. Berry, placed second, Kateeva, ridden by L.F. Roche, placed fifth, Ucanchoose, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, and Dark Danger, ridden by M.A. Cleere, both unplaced, after it appeared that interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that any interference caused was accidental in nature and they therefore took no further action.
