147D Audi Sligo Handicap & P.J. Smullen, rider of Danehill Promise, trained by Mr. J.A. Nash, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount weakened quickly on the approach to the home turn. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Danehill Promise was found to be clinically abnormal post race.
147F Sligo Champion Handicap & The Stewards informed Mr. Norman Cassidy, trainer of Spiritual Sister, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
M.M. Monaghan, rider of Celestial Prospect (AUS), trained by Mr. D.P. Kelly, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was slowly away and that first time blinkers did not seem to have the desired effect on the horse today.
147G Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & The Stewards enquired into possible interference (Rule 214) in the closing stages of this race involving the winner Truthwillsetufree, ridden by P.J. Smullen, and Zalantoun, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, placed second, after it appeared that the latter suffered slight interference.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.
Wexford Meeting, 20th June 2012
The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: B.F. Cawley rode Up Sluggarh (reserve), trained by Mr. D.E. Fitzgerald (first race) and E.F. Power replaced A.P. Thornton (injured) on Gibbstown, trained by Mr. Paul Stafford (sixth race).
148A Mount Leinster Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Paul Nolan, trainer of the winner Red Calima, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to the horse’s previous run at Tramore on the 14th April.
Mr. Nolan reported that his charge disappointed at Tramore last time when jumping poorly. He added that the horse was subsequently freshened up and jumped more efficiently today which helped him return to form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
D.G. Hogan, rider of Mike Frazer, trained by Mr. C.F. Swan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green and jumped poorly so was therefore pulled up.
148B Vinegar Hill Maiden Hurdle & T.C. Carroll, rider of Too Wild For Der, trained by Ms. M. Flynn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not act on today’s ground.
M.J. Ferris, rider of Canis Major, trained by Ms. M. Flynn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount raced reluctantly and may benefit from the application of blinkers.
148C Curracloe Handicap Hurdle & P.A. Gallagher, rider of Milano Bay, trained by Mr. Donncha Duggan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung throughout this race.
148D Wellingtonbridge Novice Hurdle & Mr. S.J. Allen, rider of Knockaunroe, trained by Mrs Mary Buttimer, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not act on today’s ground.
148F Slaney Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. A.J. Martin, trainer of the winner Undertheboardwalk, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s previous run at Fairyhouse on the 9th April.
Mr. Martin reported that his charge disappointed at Fairyhouse last time when the ground became testing following persistent rain during that day. He added that today’s improved ground conditions helped his charge return to form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
M.P. Walsh, rider of Jewel In The Sun, trained by Mr. C.F. Swan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled in this race. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Jewel In the Sun was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
148H Ladies Free On Littlewoods Ladies Day July 28th Maiden Hurdle & B.F. Cawley, rider of Up Sluggarh, trained by Mr. D.E. Fitzgerald, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a mistake on the second circuit and never travelled thereafter.
Leopardstown Meeting, 21st June 2012
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: M.C. Hussey replaced A.P. Thornton (injured) on Lily’s Star, trained by Mr. H. Rogers (sixth race).

149F Leopardstown Club Members Handicap & J.A. Heffernan, rider of Burrenbridge Lodge, trained by Mr. Kieran Purcell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount failed to quicken with the other runners and possibly needs a longer trip. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Burrenbridge Lodge was found to be post race normal.
Limerick Meeting, 22nd June 2012
The Stewards authorised the following substitution of rider at this meeting: D.M. Grant rode Fit The Cove (reserve), trained by Mr. H. Rogers (third race).
150A 8th July Beach Party At Limerick Races Maiden & The Stewards interviewed Mr. Niall O’Callaghan, trainer of the Fog In The Bog, concerning the poor performance (Rule 212) of his charge.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned.
Following the running of this race Fog In The Bog was examined by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer at the request of the Stewards and was found to be post race normal.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Fog In The Bog was in breach of Rule 212 (b), in that this running performance was unacceptable and they therefore suspended Fog In The Bog from running for 60 days.
Mr. Niall O’Callaghan, trainer of Fog In The Bog, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 25th June that his charge was found to be lame post race.
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Sailrfly, trained by Mr. T. Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount swerved right under pressure in the straight, then carried her head high and was eased close home.
150C Ballyduane Stud Handicap & The Stewards enquired into possible interference (Rule 214) shortly after turning into the home straight involving Landsdowne, ridden by M.C. Hussey, placed third, Nanotech, ridden by L.F. Roche placed fifth, and Fit The Cove, ridden by D.M. Grant, unplaced, after it appeared that Nanotech suffered interference.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the interference which occurred was accidental in nature. They therefore made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Packsapunch, trained by Mr. Andrew Lee, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung right throughout.
150D Martin Molony Stakes & The Stewards enquired into possible interference (Rule 214) in the home straight involving Backbench Blues, ridden by F.M. Berry, placed second, and Defining Year, ridden by S. Foley, placed third, after it appeared that the latter suffered slight interference.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.

150E Croom House Stud European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden & The Stewards interviewed James J. Doyle, rider of Melisasofia, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, in the presence of Mr. Michael Winters, trainer, representing Mr. C.F. Swan, trainer and master of James J. Doyle.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that James J. Doyle was in breach of Regulation 10 2 (b) in that he had continued to use his whip when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone.
Having taken his inexperience into account, the Stewards severely cautioned him and ordered that he attend R.A.C.E. for a one day tuition on the correct use of the whip.
150F Greenmount Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards informed Mr. A.J. McNamara, trainer of Mellow Manner, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
150G Hermitage Green 26th July Qualified Riders Race. The Stewards interviewed Mr. J. O’Sullivan, rider of First Impressions, placed second, concerning his use of the whip (Regulation 10) in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. O’Sullivan was in breach of Regulation 10 2 in that he had used his whip with excessive frequency and failed to give his mount time to respond.
Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (6th and 7th July). &

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: E.J. O’Connell rode Some Machine (reserve), trained by Mr. C.A. McBratney (second race); B.J. Cooper rode Hills Of Claragh (reserve), trained by Mr. I.R. Ferguson (fourth race); R.J. Jones rode Bacher Son (reserve), trained by Mr. Paul Stafford (fifth race); C.D. Maxwell rode Pistol Jack (reserve), trained by Mr. S. McParlan (sixth race); M.A. Enright rode Mat Hill (reserve), trained by Mr. Liam Lennon (sixth race) and Mr. S. Crawford rode Mister Nibbles (reserve), trained by Mr. S.R.B. Crawford (seventh race).
In the interest of safety due to surface water lying on the track, the Stewards granted permission for both the second last hurdle and second last fence to be omitted from their respective races on today’s programme.
151D Bladon & Co. Handicap Hurdle & Mr. Paul W. Flynn, trainer of Thewesthowaya, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge did not handle today’s ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Thewesthowaya was found to be post race normal.
Mr. A.J. Martin, trainer of Mullaghwillin Boy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge did not handle today’s ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Mullaghwillin Boy was found to be post race normal.
151F www.thetote.com Galway Plate Trial Handicap Steeplechase & The Stewards received a report from Mr. J.R. Banahan, Turf Club Starter, which stated that he called a false start to this race as the starting tape was not fully connected when the runners were approaching it in an orderly manner. He released the tape and ordered that the runners walk around once more to allow him time to connect the tape to the starting mechanism.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted its content.
The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the final bend involving the winner Mat Hill, ridden by M.A. Enright, and Best Legend, ridden by Campbell Gillies, which slipped up at this point when racing on the inside of Mat Hill.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned, which included an admission from Campbell Gillies that his mount was leading on the wrong leg when slightly running off the bend and made contact with Mat Hill before losing his footing and falling independently.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was accidental and independent and they therefore took no further action.
Down Royal Meeting, 23rd June 2012
152A Citybeat Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Mr. Marcus Callaghan, trainer of the winner Patrickswell, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared to his recent form.
Mr. Callaghan reported that his charge returned to form today at his favourite track. He added that the slight drop in class also helped the horse dictate matters. The trainer concluded by saying that Patrickswell comes to form around this time of year.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
F. Lynch, rider of Empirico (FR), trained by Mr. David Marnane, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unable to get a clear run in the straight.
N.G. McCullagh, rider of Mountain Coral, trained by Mr. F. Oakes, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered interference and had to check in the latter stages of this race.
152D Magners Ulster Derby & C.P. Hoban, rider of Shamiran, trained by Mr. S.T. Nolan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount slipped independently before the turn into the straight.
152F Louis Roederer Handicap & B.A. Curtis, rider of Salacius Sally, trained by Mr. Donal Kinsella, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly and ran disappointingly.

153B Paulstown Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards fined Mr. Shane Gerard Joyce, trainer, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Katie’s Oscar, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Melanjo, trained by Mr. James Morrissey, was found to be post race normal.
B.J. Cooper, rider of Moneyteigue Lad, trained by Mr. Paul Martin Pierce, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was found to be lame on pulling up.
S.J. Hassett, rider of Chestnut Friar, trained by Mr. Martin Hassett, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount suffered some interference on leaving the back straight and lost some ground as a result, but stayed on past beaten horses late on.
153C www.gowranpark.ie Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed P. Carberry, rider of Casimir Road, placed second, concerning his use of the whip (Regulation 10) in the closing stages.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that P. Carberry was in breach of Regulation 10 3 in that he had used his whip without giving his mount time to respond.
Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore severely cautioned him.
153D Jack Duggan Memorial Handicap Hurdle & Mr. John W. Nicholson, trainer of Knockcroghery, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that the rider informed him that the horse was never happy on today’s ground and made a noise after the third last hurdle.
153E Follow Gowran Park On Facebook Maiden Hurdle & A.P. Thornton, rider of Holyman Of War, trained by Mr. R.P. Rath, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount pulled up injured in this race.
153F Callan Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of the winner Wooly Tom, trained by Mr. Patrick Mooney, compared with the horse’s previous number of runs.
Mr. Mooney reported that Wooly Tom is a big horse who has had lots of problems. He said that the horse was having his first run in a handicap today and that the animal was also fitted with a tongue tie for the first time. He said that his charge is a buzzy type and that the strong pace in today’s race helped him to settle out the back before he crept into the race. He concluded by saying that any apparent improvement in form by his charge could be attributed to a combination of these factors.

D.N. Russell, rider of Timjoe, trained by Mr. Terence O'Brien, reported to the Stewards Secretaries' that his mount jumped well, but tired quickly when coming under pressure and was eased.
