The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

A. Harvey rode Mist On The Bog (reserve) trained by Liam Casey (Race 6)

157B Tote Connacht National H'cap S'chase

The Raceday Stewards interviewed M.P. O'Connor, rider of Gold Bullion (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the Whip Regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that M.P. O'Connor was in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (third offence), they suspended him for eight racedays.

P.J. Rothwell, trainer of Galon De Vauzelle (FR), reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge burst a blood vessel. The IHRB Veterinary Officer confirmed that the animal had blood at both nostrils post race.

157C www.roscommonracecourse.ie Opp. Mdn Hdle

The Raceday Stewards interviewed P. Hanlon, rider of Mother Ship, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the Whip Regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that P. Hanlon was in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (first offence), they suspended him for one raceday.

Shane Fenelon, rider of Rhodesia, trained by Charlie Keegan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was badly hampered by the faller.

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident on the bend before entering the backstraight involving Halla Paroiste, ridden by L.A. McKenna, placed sixth, and Tyson (GER), ridden by C.D Smithers, placed second, where it appeared Halla Paroiste had to take a slight check. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

157D1 Shanagher Hearing H'cap H'dle

The Raceday Stewards interviewed J. Coen, rider of Banada Bridge, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that the first strike was for corrective purposes but accepted he was in breach of the Whip Regulation. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J. Coen was in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (second offence), they suspended him for five racedays.

157D2 Shanagher Hearing H'cap H'dle

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approaching the last hurdle involving Tipp For Mac, ridden by T. Joseph Kelly, placed third, Dark Image (GB), ridden by G.B. Noonan, placed first, Lisamaria, ridden by K.C. Sexton, unplaced, and So Easy Way, ridden by R.A. Doyle, unplaced, where it appeared numerous horses came close together. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. G.B Noonan stated that he gave his mount a flick down the neck and he just rolled around in front of Lisamaria. R.A. Doyle stated that as he received a bump he felt he corrected his mount immediately. K.C. Sexton stated that things just got tight momentarily. T. Joseph Kelly stated that his mount jumped slightly left and was returning to his racing line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Tipp For Mac, ridden by T. Joseph Kelly, placed third, Dark Image (GB), ridden by G.B. Noonan, placed first, and Steps In The Sand, ridden by E. Walsh, placed second, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. E. Walsh stated that he was carried across the track by G.B. Noonan. T. Joseph Kelly stated that he was carried across the track and had to take a pull. G.B. Noonan stated that he thought he was further clear when his mount drifted across. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found G.B. Noonan was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard (first offence), the Raceday Stewards suspended him for two racedays.

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Eoin Christopher McCarthy, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Dark Image (GB), placed first, as compared with its most recent run at Listowel on the third of June. Eoin Christopher McCarthy reported that his charge came on a bit from the run the last day in Listowel and he has updated his training facilities so has been training her more intensively as a result. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation given.

157G Racing Again 2nd July (PA) INH Flat Race

Mr F. Maguire, rider of Miss Lia, trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he lost his reigns turning in but recovered them as quick as possible.
