The Stewards fined the following trainers in respect of their non-runners:-

John Joseph Hanlon, trainer of Mosaaheb (GB) (Late withdrawal - denied a reserve the chance to run) - €320
Declan Queally, trainer of Mick Charlie (off feed) - €200

The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

Mr. J.L Gleeson rode The Glimmer Man (reserve) trained by Henry de Bromhead (Race 8)

166A Follow Kilbeggan On Instagram (M) H'dle

P. Hanlon, rider of Miss Oreo, trained by John Joseph Hanlon, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly left throughout.

P.J. O'Hanlon, rider of Menhir, trained by M.M. Rice, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was awkward at the start and hung left.

The Raceday Stewards granted a request from Mr. P. Moloney, Clerk of the Course, to extend the distance of this race by 70 yards to 2m 2f and 129 yards to accommodate an administrative error on the Racecard prior to printing.

The Raceday Stewards informed Ciaran Murphy, trainer of Let's Avit, that a repeat performance in the behaviour of his charge, who misbehaved in the parade ring and before the start of this race may render the animal liable to suspension in future.

Mr K. O'Neill, rider of And Still I Rise, trained by John F. O'Neill, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his saddle slipped after the third last.

166C1 Belvedere House & Gardens Opp. Hcap Hdle

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident rounding the final bend involving Tuff Days, ridden by A.P. Kelly, placed fourth, Dun Ar Aill, ridden by A. Harvey, placed fifth, Navy Waves, ridden by E. Dwan, placed third and Oscar Tonic, ridden by Conor-Stone Walsh, placed sixth, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined The Lucky Lobster (GB), trained by Declan Queally, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have a slight bilateral nasal discharge and a small wound inside the right hind cannon.

166C2 Belvedere House & Gardens Opp. Hcap Hdle

The Raceday Stewards fined Paul John Gilligan, trainer €65 for fitting cheek pieces to Cloughroe which had not been declared and ordered it’s removal.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Denis Gerard Hogan, trainer of Justmadeit, in relation to the late arrival of his charge to the saddling area which resulted in a five minute delay to this race. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, who stated that when he went to saddle his charge he noticed that a member of staff had brought the wrong horse to the saddling area. He said he immediately rang another member of staff to bring the correct filly up for saddling which took a considerable amount of time given the distance between the stable yard and the saddling area. He concluded by apologising for the inconvenience caused. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards accepted the explanation offered on this occasion and took no further action other than to remind Mr. Hogan of his future obligations under Rule 32(ii).

P.K. Donovan, rider of Justmadeit, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his saddle slipped at the third last.

166E Belvedere House & Gardens Opp Beg Schase

The Raceday Stewards interviewed J. Smith, rider of Moonovercloon, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he had used his whip excessively and was of the opinion that he started using his whip too early in the closing stages. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J. Smith was in breach of Regulation 10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record (first offence,) they suspended him for four racedays.

K. Callaghan, rider of The Big Doyen, trained by Peter Fahey, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran too keen.

P.K. Donovan, rider of Thecompanysergeant (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount suffered interference passing the stable yard on the final circuit. The Raceday Stewards reviewed this incident and were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

166F Galway Plate Trial H'cap S'chase

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Seddon, trained by John C. McConnell, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

A. Harvey, rider of Seddon, trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.

M.P. O'Connor, rider of Lucky Zebo (GB), trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Lucky Zebo (GB), trained by Henry de Bromhead, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Raceday Stewards received a report from Ms. P Hassett, Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that J.G. Gilligan, rider of Born By The Sea, had weighed in at 1.3 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted the report and stated that he had taken a drink of water after weighing out. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that J.G. Gilligan was in breach of Rule 231 (iii) and having considered his clean record, they cautioned him on this occasion.

J.G. Gilligan, rider of Born By The Sea, trained by Paul John Gilligan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was unable to lie up with the pace.

166G Kilbeggan (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race

The Raceday Stewards received a request from John Patrick Ryan, trainer of Shining Silver, for permission to run his charge without hind shoes. The trainer stated that his charge is a very difficult individual and his own farrier had failed to shoe the animal prior to today. Having considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards allowed the request on this occasion having consulted with the Clerk of the Course and the I.H.R.B. Veterinary Officer and took no further action other than to remind Mr. Ryan of his responsibilities under Regulation 16 to seek permission in advance for such a request in future.

Mr D. Doyle, rider of Nelson Muntz, trained by David Harry Kelly, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount suffered interference in the closing stages.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Kinnagrelly Boy (GB), ridden by Eoin G. Kelly, Nelson Muntz, ridden by Mr D. Doyle, unplaced and Miss Dishy, ridden by Miss F. Leaney, placed third, where it appeared that Nelson Muntz ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Eoin G. Kelly stated that a horse appeared on his inner and there was no room for him. He further stated that he suffered interference and was bumped outwards and made contact with the horse on his outside. Mr. D. Doyle stated that there was plenty of room for him to make his challenge and he suffered interference from his outside and caused him to strike the wing and later the rail. Miss F. Leaney stated that she suffered interference from her inside. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Mr. D. Doyle was in breach of Rule 214 (careless riding) and having considered his clean record they suspended him for two racedays.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The following Raceday Stewards acted on behalf of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board at this race meeting: Mr. A. Ryan (Chairman), Mr. Justice R. Groarke, Mr. E. Galvin, Mr. R. Mahon, Mr. A. Ring.

The Raceday Stewards received a report from Mr. P. Moloney, I.H.R.B. Clerk of the Course, in relation to Races 6 and 7 that there was a distance adjustment to facilitate the starting point in these races for safety reasons. Both races were run over a distance of 2m 4f and 51 yards. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards using their powers suspended Rule 53, in that the required number of fences (12) would not be jumped on this occasion.
