085B Cawley Furniture Novice H'cap H'dle

The Stewards interviewed Ronan M.P. McNally, trainer, concerning the failure to nominate a rider before the designated time for Full Noise. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that he had two entries in the race which were 27 and 39 in the ballot and had expected that they wouldn't get into the race. When he realised one of his charges had got into the race he rang HRI but at that stage it was too late to nominate a rider. He further stated that an unexpected increase to the field size had been a factor in the error. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards found Mr. McNally in breach of Rule 195(i) and having taken his record into account cautioned him regarding his responsibilities in this regard in future.

C.J. Orr, rider of Bells Life trained by E. J. O'Grady, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Banks Boy, trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving Icare Desbois (FR), ridden by Miss J. Townend, No Looking Back, ridden by Mr J.C. Barry, Lecky Watson, ridden by Mr. P.W. Mullins, and Loughglynn, ridden by Mr. E. Ohgren where it appeared horses ran short of room. Mr. Mullins stated that he was going for a narrow gap when he received pressure from his outside and also pressure from his inner and was badly hampered. Mr. Barry stated that he received pressure from the outside, got stopped and was badly hampered. Mr. Ohgren stated that he received pressure from his outside, corrected and was falling back when he received pressure from his inner. Miss Townend stated that her mount was leaning in, there was a bump and she felt the horses on her inner were going backwards. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Miss Townend was in breach of Rule 214 in that she had ridden carelessly and having taken her record into account suspended her for four race days.
