R.A. Berry, rider of Thurman, trained by C.A.Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount pulled up lame. Following an examination by The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer, this was confirmed to be the case.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into the circumstances whereby Mooretown Lad, ridden by M.J.M O'Sullivan and Ravelli, ridden by D A Kidd, both trained by Mr. John C. McConnell, had to be resaddled prior to the start of this race, which contributed to a delay to the off time. Evidence was heard from Mr. Martin Fox, Authorised Representative for the trainer who accepted full responsibility for the error and apologised. Having considered all the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Mr. John C. McConnell was in breach of Rule 148(i) and having considered his record in this regard (second offence) the Raceday Stewards fined him five hundred euro through his Authorised representative. Chairman of the stewards Mr. Justice Tony Hunt did not attend this enquiry and was replaced by Mr. R. Ryan as Chairman.
383B Thorntons Recycling M'dn H'dleThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Redemption Day (GB), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
J. Kearney, rider of Glenashling, trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped very green throughout.
383D Dornan Careers Novice H'cap H'dleM.P. O'Connor, rider of Love Me (FR), trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stopped quickly from the second last.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Addragoole, trained by Gavin Cromwell, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
Prior to the off time of this race, the Raceday Stewards delayed proceedings owing to deteriorating visibility (fog). Following a delay, they were satisfied to allow racing to continue. The Clerk of the Course, Racecourse Manager, Judge, Doctor, Riders and Trainers Representatives and a Racecourse Veterinary Surgeon were consulted prior to the decision being made. This race had an off time of 14.30.
