051G I.S.F. EBF (Pr-Am) Auction INH Flat Race

The Raceday Stewards interviewed M.M.Lynch, trainer of Genepi George, in relation to his charge being declared without a rider. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who said he had booked Mr. E.P. O'Brien but received a call from that rider two minutes before the deadline to say he was riding another horse in the race. At this stage it was too late to secure another rider so he contacted the offices of The I.H.R.B. to alert them to the issue. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards allowed the nomination of K.P. Healy to ride and noted the trainers explanation.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving L'Evangeliste (FR), ridden by Mr E.P. O'Brien, placed second and Fruit De Mer, ridden by Mr R.W. Barron, placed first, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr. E.P. O'Brien said he got completely carried off the track, received two significant bumps and cost him the winning of the race. Mr. R.W. Barron said his horse ran green in front and hung left in the straight but felt his mount won easy at the line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Fruit De Mer had caused interference to L'Evangeliste and as a result of this interference had improved it’s finishing position. As a consequence, the Raceday Stewards reversed the placings of the first and second placed horses and amended the result to read as follows:

Amended Result:
First: L'Evangeliste
Second: Fruit De Mer
Third: Emily Love
Fourth: Pour One More
Fifth: Sticktotheplan
Sixth: Watchful Protector

Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. R.W. Barron was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record (second offence), they suspended him for four racedays.

Mr R.W. Barron, rider of Fruit De Mer, trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran very green and hung left in the straight.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr J.M. Halford, rider of Emily Love, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip guidelines. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach od R10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his clean record, they suspended him for 2 racedays.
