The Stewards interviewed D. McMonagle, rider of Hadman, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was eager to get across and fill the space as there was nobody on his inner. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence from the rider, the Stewards were satisfied that D. McMonagle was in breach of Rule 211(a) and having considered his record in this regard the Stewards suspended D. McMonagle for one raceday.
The Stewards interviewed C.T. Keane, rider of Once Upon A River, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that his mount was having its first run and followed the horse in front of him across the track of its own accord. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence from the rider, the Stewards gave C. T. Keane the benefit of the doubt on this occasion and they took no further action.
154B Golf At Gowran Park H'capThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Anna Strada (GB), trained by Mrs John Harrington, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
R.P. Whelan, rider of Got The Moves trained by A. Oliver, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stumbled leaving the gates.
S. Foley, rider of Anna Strada (GB) trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not pick up in the straight.
W.J. Lee, rider of Dreams Delivered trained by D.J. Bunyan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
154C Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) H'capThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Gena (FR), trained by P. Twomey, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
The Stewards interviewed G.F. Carroll, rider of Sh Boom (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that G. F. Carroll was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency. Having considered G. F. Carroll's record in this regard the Stewards suspended G. F. Carroll for two racedays.
G.P. Halpin, rider of Astral Path trained by John James Feane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not handle todays going and stopped quickly.
154D1 Holden Plant Rentals H'capT.P. Madden, rider of Ethics Approval (GB) trained by Stephen Gerard Carey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away.
Sarah E. McCarthy, rider of Reddiac trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount reared in the stalls.
The Stewards interviewed J.A. Heffernan, rider of Joupe, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that J. A. Heffernan was in breach of regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency and h, the use of the whip with the arm above shoulder height. Having considered J. A. Heffernan's record in this regard the Stewards suspended J. A. Heffernan for six racedays and referred him to the Racing Academy and Centre of Education for one days tuition on the correct use of the whip.
154D2 Holden Plant Rentals H'capM.A. Enright, rider of Strategic Fortune trained by Eoin Doyle, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran off the first bend.
W.M. Lordan, rider of Basrah Breeze trained by E. D. Delany, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost it's hind legs leaving the gates.
154E Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) M'dnW.J. Lee, rider of Cleopatra's Needle trained by W. McCreery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount leaned off the bend turning in.
154G Thomastown RaceThe Stewards requested a report from D. K. Weld, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Zawara, placed first, as compared with its most recent run. Kris Weld, Authorised representative for the trainer concerned stated that todays better ground coupled with a drop back in trip had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given.
