141A Irish EBF Median Sires Series M'dn

N.M. Crosse, rider of Mister Wilson trained by P.F.McEnery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away.

141B Anthony Powell (C & G) M'dn

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Irish Chief (USA), trained by A.P.O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards requested a report from D. K. Weld, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Tashgheel, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Sliog on the 2nd May when making its seasonal debut. Patrick O'Brien, Authorised representative for D.K. Weld, reported that their charge had raced with the early pace at Sligo from a bad draw and never acted on the track. Today the blinkers worn at Sligo were replaced with a visor and a change of riding tactics were also applied. In his opinion these were contributing factors to today's success. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.

141C Pat Smullen H'cap

R.C. Colgan, rider of Half Nutz trained by Ms. Sheila Lavery, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away from the starting stalls and was on the back foot throughout this race.

141D Remembering John Kierans Rated Race

W.M. Lordan, rider of Corps Des Pages trained by P. Twomey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount turned his head as the gates opened.

B.M. Coen, rider of Inca Prince trained by C.W.J. Farrell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stood in the stalls when the gates opened.

The Stewards enquired into an incident inside the two furlong pole involving Probe (GB), ridden by C.T. Keane, placed first and The Blue Panther, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed fourth, where it appeared that Probe(GB) may have caused interference when delivering his challenge. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, G.F. Carroll stated that Probe (GB) arrived on his inner travelling well and he was trying to hold his racing line but unable to hold his position before fading to finish fourth. C.T. Keane stated that he was travelling well when a small gap appeared at the time that The Blue Panther was holding him in. He felt that the straight had two small bends which over exaggerated the situation. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that C.T. Keane was in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended C.T. Keane for one raceday

The Stewards informed Garry Davis, Authorised representative for C.W.J. Farrell, trainer, that his charge Inca Prince may be liable to a suspension if he repeats todays behaviour where he failed to take part in this race when the stalls opened.

S.T. McCullagh, rider of Dynakite (GB) trained by Richard John O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.

C.D. Hayes, rider of Dixon Line (GB) trained by Kevin Prendergast, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount got unbalanced in the straight and rolled outwards.

R.P. Whelan, rider of Fake Plastic Trees trained by A. Oliver, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped left out of the starting stalls and never travelled.

W.M. Lordan, rider of Designer Cailin trained by Patrick Martin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slightly checked in the straight.

The Stewards reviewed an incident in the closing stages involving Fragaria, ridden by G.F. Carroll, placed fifth, Dixon Line (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed third, Rare Flower, ridden by B.M. Coen, placed fourth, Designer Cailin, ridden by W.M. Lordan, unplaced and King Wasp, ridden by N.M. Crosse, unplaced, where it appeared that Rare Flower had moved inwards for a strike of the whip and some runners got tight for room. Having reviewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no action was warranted.

141F2 John Thomas McNamara H'cap

Following a request from broadcasters, the Stewards granted permission for this race to be delayed by +3 minutes

R.P. Whelan, rider of Brightburn trained by John James Feane, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lugged left under pressure.

M.A. Enright, rider of Champagne Breath trained by Thomas Cooper, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away, then did not get a clear run on the turn into the straight and again in the latter stages of this race.

GENERAL INFORMATION

The following Raceday Stewards acted on behalf of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board at this race meeting:

Mr. John Moloney (Chairman),

Ms. Jill Farrell,

Mr. Michael Doyle,

Mr. L. Walsh.

The Stewards received a report from Pat Brennan, H.R.I Compliance Officer, that Kieran Cotter, trainer, had not completed his application for an access pass to todays fixture but was found to have crossed the race track to access the infield of the racecourse from the horsebox car park about two furlongs past the winning post to observe his runner in the second race. The Stewards were unable to interview Kieran Cotter. Having considered the report, the Stewards referred the matter to the CEO of the IHRB for further investigation.

The Stewards considered the reasons of "change in going", "ground" and "going" forwarded by trainers for their non runners at this fixture. Having reviewed the information posted on going descriptions and in consultation with the Clerk of the Course Mr T.V. O'Connell, the Stewards were satisfied that there was no material change in the going from the time of declaration to the commencement of the meeting and therefore did not accept the reasons forwarded. The Stewards imposed a fine of €200 on each of the trainers in relation to their non runners for the reasons as stated above. Each non runner was suspended for 2 racedays.
