212C1 Ladies Day 2022 App H'capThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Illetas, trained by Barry J. Fitzgerald, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
The Stewards interviewed D.J Gilligan, rider, in relation to his expected overweight and his request to be substituted. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he had ridden recently at todays weight but between racing yesterday evening and having no chance to shed some weight this morning he had notified the trainer of his situation. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.J. Gilligan was in breach of Rule 198 (vii) (a) where his intended overweight exceeded 2 lbs. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards fined D.J. Gilligan €150 on this occasion. Aidan McCarthy accompanied D.J. Gilligan at this enquiry.
The Stewards enquired into an incident at the turn up the hill soon after the start involving Mullacash Buzz, ridden by J. Cleary, Laakhof, ridden by S.T. McCullagh, Zaur, ridden by W. Joyce, Manhattan Dandy, ridden by R. Whearty, and Vernotstoppen, ridden by M.P. Sheehy where it appeared that Manhattan Dandy checked when racing close to the rails. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, R. Whearty stated that his mount received pressure from his outside, ran out of room and checked. S.T. McCullagh stated that his mount was running very keen when receiving pressure from his outside. W. Joyce stated that his mount received pressure from Vernotstoppen on his outside and he tightened the horses on his inner. M.P. Sheehy stated that his mount had moved over towards the rails from an outside draw and on receiving a bump from Zaur, his mount latched on to the bit and he was unable to anchor him to keep him off the horses on his inner. J. Cleary stated that he was ahead of the incident and felt that he did not contribute to any trouble. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found M.P. Sheehy was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard the Stewards suspended M.P. Sheehy for three racedays. Hugh Hurley accompanied J. Cleary at this enquiry.
212C2 Ladies Day 2022 App H'capThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined The Cola Brasil (GB), trained by Michael J. Browne, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

212D Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) H'capThe Stewards requested a report from J.P. Murtagh, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Shanghai Dragon, placed first, as compared with its recent form. J.P. Murtagh reported that the first time application of a visor and the change of riding tactics by racing with the pace were contributing factors to the improved performance. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
212E Tote Always SP or Better @ Gowran RaceW.M. Lordan, rider of Shark Bay trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left in the straight.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Jungle Cove, ridden by D.A Kidd, placed second, and Shark Bay, ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed first, where it appeared that Shark Bay drifted toward Jungle Cove and may have caused interference. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, D.A. Kidd stated that his mount received interference twice causing him to get unbalanced and in his opinion this had a bearing on the final placings. W.M. Lordan stated that he used his whip in his left hand initially as his mount was leaning left and then switched it to his right hand but his mount drifted left and made contact with Jungle Cove before racing straight to the line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while Shark Bay had caused interference to Jungle Cove, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that W.M. Lordan was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard the Stewards cautioned W.M. Lordan on this occasion. Mrs John Harrington, trainer of Jungle Cove, accompanied D.A. Kidd at this enquiry.

The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr. P. Deegan, that W.J. Lee, rider of Morning Dew (FR), had weighed in at 1.3 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he accepted the facts presented. He added that there was heavy rain before and during this race which caused his colours and breaches to gain moisture which he informed the Stewards made a difference of .4 lbs.. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanation on this occasion but advised W.J. Lee to be more careful in a similar situation in the future.
The Stewards requested a report from Gearoid Patrick Brouder, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Brewel Hill, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Fairyhouse on the 6th July. The trainer reported that his charge was unable to handle the shorter trip of seven furlongs at Fairyhouse as it was too sharp for him. In his opinion the step back up to todays trip of one mile one furlong and one hundred and ten yards allowed him to race in his comfort zone. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report.
