204F Tote Guarantee All Irish & UK Races HcpThe Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Youmdor (FR), ridden by C.T. Keane, and trained by W.P. Mullins. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer's representative concerned. C.T. Keane, stated that his mount had been off the racecourse for a long time and he was instructed to ride him wherever he was comfortable and to get him to run as well as he could. On reviewing the video in the presence of the Stewards, he pointed out that his mount got caught on the rail when racing down the back straight and he had to sit as he had nowhere to go until a gap appeared about two and a half furlongs out. He added that his mount stayed on but the winner and second placed horses had already gone clear at that stage. He described his mount as being a big awkward horse who handled the track only ok but in his opinion he could not have finished any closer and did not apply the whip as he had no more to give. Peter Delmer, Authorised Representative for W.P. Mullins, confirmed the riding instructions and reminded the Stewards that their charge had not run since the Cheltenham festival 2021. He expressed his satisfaction with the ride. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Youmdor (FR) was coughing post race. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations given.
