The Raceday Stewards informed M.C. Grassick, trainer that Somptueuse, would have to be recertified before being declared to run from stalls again.

B.M. Coen, rider of Staysound Susie, trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount leaned slightly left in the closing stages.

The Raceday Stewards considered a complaint from M.C. Grassick, trainer of Somptueuse regarding the withdrawal of his charge by the I.H.R.B. Starter after the animal had refused to load. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, who had lodged the complaint at Scales as required under Rule 31. Evidence was also heard from Mr. D. Cullen, I.H.R.B. Starter, Mr. M. Behan, Stall Handler Team Leader and D.E. Sheehy, rider of Somptueuse. Mr. Grassick said he felt it was unfair that his charge did not get another chance to load after all the other runners had loaded and this was his complaint. D.E. Sheehy was also of the view that he should have got one more chance to load. Mr. D. Cullen stated that the stall handlers had made three attempts to load the animal and in the interests of safety he ordered its withdrawal. He further explained that the stall handlers attempted to load the animal with the rider on and failed, before trying with a hood which failed and again without the rider and hood and this also failed. He concluded by stating that the animal was lying down on the stall handlers and in the interests of safety he felt withdrawing the animal was the correct thing to do. Mr. Behan confirmed the evidence of the Starter and shared his view. Having considered the matter the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that the Starter had taken the correct course of action and confirmed the recertification of Somptueuse. Furthermore, in the circumstances the Raceday Stewards ordered that the trainers deposit lodged at Scales be returned.

Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation offered.

Adam Caffrey, rider of Never Shout Never, trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped awkwardly from the stalls.
