041A Donohoe Marquees M'dn H'dle

P. Townend, rider of Fly Smart (FR) trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount took a blow and tired in the closing stages.

K.M. Donoghue, rider of He's Ok trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran very keen and also hung violently to the right throughout this race.

J.J. Doyle, rider of Inforapenny trained by P.M.J.Doyle, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung right throughout and lost his action going to the last hurdle.

The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the final bend involving Barbary Master (GB), ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed second and Fly Smart (FR), ridden by P. Townend, placed fifth, where it appeared that Fly Smart (FR) momentarily checked when Barbary Master (GB) moved back into the running rails having run wide on the final bend. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. P. Townend stated that the position of the final hurdle was too close to the bend and he seized an opportunity to race up the inner of Barbary Master (GB) who had run straight off the second last hurdle and left a gap on the inner on the bend. He confirmed that his mount did not have the pace to take the bend and he was not inconvenienced. S.W. Flanagan agreed that the second last hurdle was too close to the final bend and a good jump by his mount at the second last left him in the middle of the track running straight instead of rounding the bend which came up very quickly. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied to take no further action.

The Stewards enquired into an incident after the final hurdle involving Barbary Master (GB), ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed second and Max Flamingo, ridden by D.F. O'Regan, placed first, where it appeared that Max Flamingo had come across the racing line of Barbary Master (GB) when recovering from having jumped to the right at the final hurdle. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S.W. Flanagan stated that he did not check but his mount independently jinked inwards when Max Flamingo came back towards the rails on the run away from the last hurdle. D.F. O'Regan stated that his mount overreacted when asked to straighten up away from the last hurdle having never been in front before. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied to take no further action.

041C TRM Equine Nutrition (Mares) M'dn H'dle

The Stewards enquired into possible interference on the approach to the final hurdle involving Moonlit Wings, ridden by J.P. O'Sullivan, placed fourth, Rhyme'n Rhythm, ridden by R.J. Condon, placed sixth and Mare Quimby, ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed fifth, where it appeared that Rhyme'n Rhythm and Mare Quinby were tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S.W. Flanagan stated that that he was travelling well when going for a gap on the inner but it disappeared some strides before the hurdle. R.J. Condon stated that despite shouting to keep daylight, his gap disappeared from his outside. J.P. O'Sullivan stated that the pace steadied in front of him at a time when he was finishing well and accepted that in needing light he may have caused slight interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Moonlit Wings in causing interference had improved her placing in relation to Mare Quimby and therefore reversed their placings with the result now to read; First - Royal Illusion, Second - Sweet Street, Third - Erins Benefit, Fourth - Mare Quimby and Fifth - Moonlit Wings. Furthermore, the Stewards were of the opinion that J.P. O'Sullivan had caused the interference by riding carelessly this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended J.P. O'Sullivan for 3 racedays. They also reminded J.P. O'Sullivan that enquiries take precedent over any other additional roles that he has on a raceday and he must not in the future cause any unnecessary delay to the holding of an enquiry

D.P. Maxwell, rider of Lough Manor trained by Matthew J. Smith, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his saddle slipped and his mount was pulled up a short while later.

041D Anton O’Toole (Mares) H'cap H'dle

P. Townend, rider of Klassy Kay trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly off the final bend.

The Stewards enquired into an incident rounding the final bend involving Demi Plie, ridden by Miss A.B. O'Connor, placed third, Klassy Kay, ridden by P. Townend, placed sixth, Trickey Trix, ridden by C.A. Landers, placed second and She's Commanche, ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed first, where it appeared that there was tight riding with some interference caused. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Miss A.B. O'Connor stated that her mount was not travelling well enough to keep her position and pulled out of the tight situation. C.A. Landers stated that there was general bunching at the time of the incident and he was tightened from both sides. P. Townend stated that having jumped the second last hurdle very well, he was unable to pick up to take the inner and came around the leader. S.W. Flanagan stated that his mount had jumped straight at the last hurdle and he brought his mount back onto the correct path but the field bunched at this point. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference caused could not be attributed to any particular rider and therefore took no further action.

J.P. O'Sullivan, rider of Wild Caprice trained by Thomas James, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race before being pulled up.

041E Irish Stallion Farms EBF Rated Nov' S'ch

D.F. O'Regan, rider of Magnium trained by A.J.Martin, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not let himself down on the ground.

Owing to the low elevation of the sun, the Stewards granted permission for fence #2 to be omitted from this race

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Magnium, ridden by D.F. O'Regan, and trained by A.J.Martin. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. A.J. Martin stated that he instructed the rider to drop in behind the leaders but should his mount be too strong he could go on with him. He added that his charge had not run for six months and had encountered many problems during training but today he was in good shape. He advised that his charge must go left handed but probably found the ground too quick for him. D.F. O'Regan, stated that his mount on all known form had the class to win this race but having settled and jumped well he was unable to handle the very quick ground after the third last fence and was outpaced. He expressed his surprise at how well the leaders maintained the strong pace all the way to the finish. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Magnium was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the explanations offered.

041F TRI Equestrian H'cap S'chase

Owing to the low elevation of the sun, the Stewards granted permission for fence #2 to be omitted from this race

041G TRI Superstore (Pro-Am) INH Flat Race

Mr A.P. Fahey, rider of Lake Winnipesaukee trained by P.G. Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his saddle had slightly slipped forward during this race.

The Stewards interviewed Mr A.P. Fahey, rider of Lake Winnipesaukee, trained by P.G. Fahey, concerning the fact that he had left the Flat race track and taken the steeplechase course before the home turn this being the wrong course. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his saddle had slipped forward, that his mount had been too strong to ride and through a lack of energy he was unable to steer his mount around the final bend on the correct course. Having viewed the recording and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr. A.P. Fahey had been negligent by his misjudgement of the correct course for this race and therefore had failed to attain his best possible placing this being a breach of Rule 212 (A)(iv). Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended Mr. A.P. Fahey for 14 racedays. Furthermore they reminded Mr. A.P. Fahey of his responsibility to report anything that may have affected his mounts performance in accordance with the provisions of Rule 213.
