I.N.H.S. Committee

Kildare (F) Point to Point Meeting
Sunday 12th February, 2012.

Maiden Race for 6-y-o & Upwards Division 1

The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the last fence involving Hansupfordetroit placed second ridden by Mr N.M. Kelly and Witness Of Fashion placed third ridden by Mr A.E. Kinirons.

Evidence was heard from the riders concerned and from Mr Paul Murtagh Stewards Secretary.

In his evidence Mr N.M. Kelly stated that his horse drifted left after jumping the last, towards the running rail but he felt that he was sufficiently clear of the third placed horse to allow him to continue doing so. In his evidence Mr Kinirons stated that the second placed horse had rolled in on top of him causing him to snatch up and loose momentum.

In his evidence Paul Murtagh stated that Hansupfordetroit had drifted left and interfered with Witness Of Fashion.

Having considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Hansupfordetroit
had improved his finishing position in relation to Witness Of Fashion as a result of this interference and so they reversed the placings of the second and third placed horses. They also suspended Mr N.M. Kelly for two race days (18th & 19th February) for careless riding.

The amended result should now read:

1st  Top Four
2nd  Witness Of Fashion
3rd  Hansupfordetroit
4th  Some Run

Maiden Race for 6-y-o & Upwards Division 2

The Stewards interviewed Mr P.J. Flood rider of A New Rising concerning his use of the whip before the second last fence.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned and from Mr P. McCartan Acting Steward.

In his evidence Mr McCartan stated that Mr P.J. Flood had hit his horse three times in quick succession and again four times in quick succession before the second last fence when the horse was clearly very tired and in his opinion Mr Flood’s use of the whip contributed to A New Rising falling.

In his evidence Mr P.J. Flood stated he was under instructions from the handler of A New Rising to keep the horse up to his job, he did however admit hitting his horse when he was obviously tiring.

Having considered the evidence the Stewards suspended Mr P.J. Flood for one race (18th February) day for improper use of the whip.
