196D Carlton Hotel Galway City (Q.R.) Handicap The Stewards interviewed Ms. K. Walsh, rider of Dibella, concerning her use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that Ms. K. Walsh was in breach of Regulation 10 in that she had used her whip when all chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. The Stewards therefore severely cautioned her as to her future responsibilities in this regard.
The Stewards informed Mr. Patrick Martin, trainer of Donatis Comet, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
The Stewards interviewed Mr. S.P. Byrne, rider of Oilily, concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that Mr. S.P. Byrne was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (13th August).
Mr. R.J. Kiely, rider of Caim Hill, trained by Mr. Philip Fenton, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount ran short of room and stumbled when struggling to hold his position.
196E claytonhotelgalway.ie Handicap The Stewards enquired into an incident on the approach to the straight involving Ahimsa, ridden by J.P. O’Brien, That’s Plenty, ridden by C. O’Donoghue, Fastidious (GB) ridden by P.J. Smullen and Ferryview Place (GB) ridden by F.M. Berry, all unplaced, after it appeared that interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that any interference which occurred was accidental in nature and they therefore took no further action.
The Stewards requested a report from Mr. W. McCreery, trainer of the winner Kanes Pass, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge in this race, compared with her previous run at Naas on 11th July, when the horse finished tenth of twenty.
The trainer reported that his filly disappointed at Naas last time on very testing ground. He said that on her previous run at Sligo, she was taken on for the lead and failed to get home on the ground, whereas today she benefited from the better ground and from her good draw.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
The Stewards interviewed C.P. Hoban, rider of Forgiving Light (GB), concerning his use of the whip in this race.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found C.P. Hoban in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used the whip when all chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. The Stewards therefore severely cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

197A Topaz Novice Hurdle The Stewards enquired into an incident at the final hurdle involving Zuzka, ridden by R. Walsh, placed second, and He’s Our Man, ridden by Andrew J. McNamara, placed third, after it appeared that interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that Andrew J. McNamara was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards suspended him for two race days (16th and 17th August).
B.J. Geraghty, rider of Saint Gervais, trained by Mr. John E. Kiely reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount never travelled throughout this race. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Saint Gervais was found to be post race normal.
197B Latin Quarter Steeplechase The Stewards interviewed D.J. Casey, rider of Schelm (GER), concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that D.J. Casey was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (b) in that he had continued to use his whip after his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone. Having taken his good record into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.
197C Topaz Handicap G.F. Carroll, rider of Moveable Asset, trained by Mr. W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount suffered interference on the downhill run to the straight which was caused by general bunching.
197D Topaz Mile European Breeders Fund Handicap P.J. Smullen, rider of Rock Critic, trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount received an accidental bump in the straight.
197F Caulfield Industrial Athlone Handicap R.P. Cleary, rider of Lake George, trained by Mr. James M. Barrett, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount lost its action and that he therefore pulled up.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that D.N. Russell was in breach of Regulation 10 4. in that he had failed to give his mount time to respond. The Stewards therefore cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.

198D Bet €10 Get €10 At The Tote Marquee (Q.R.) Maiden The Stewards received a request from Mrs. Amanda Larkin, representing Mr. J. Larkin, trainer of Swing Pattern (USA), to substitute the nominated rider Mr J.P. Sullivan with Mr. N. McParlan as the former was unable to draw the correct weight on their charge.
Evidence was heard from Mrs. Larkin.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the substitution, but cautioned Mr. Larkin, through his representative, that he must ensure that the rider is capable of doing the correct weight on the day when nominating a rider in the future.
198F Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap C.T. Keane, rider of Captain Cullen, trained by Mr. Gerard Keane, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his reins snapped during the running of this race.

(f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency, and Regulation 10 4. in that he failed to give his mount time to respond. The Stewards therefore suspended him for five race days (16th, 17th, 19th, 20th and 21st August).

Walsh, placed second, and Audrelles Lad, ridden by M.W. Bowes, placed fifth, after it appeared that interference had taken place.

199G IRFU Charitable Trust Handicap The Stewards interviewed, Mr. Gary Davis, representing Mr. W.P. Mullins, trainer of Call Me Bubbles (FR), in relation to the fact that this horse went to the start with a tongue tie which had not been declared.
Evidence was heard from Mr. Davis who stated that he was distracted by their horse falling in the previous race. He said that, because Call Me Bubbles (FR) had worn a tongue tie in his previous races, he assumed the horse would be wearing one today. He said he therefore applied the tongue tie to the horse, but neglected to check the racecard.
The Stewards ordered the removal of the tongue tie prior to the race and, having considered the evidence, they accepted the explanation offered by Mr. Davis and reminded him of his responsibilities in this regard for the future.
Mr. Niall Moran, trainer of The Drunken Dr, reported to the Offices of the Governing Bodies on Friday, 3rd August that his charge lay too far out of his ground in this race and was found to have pulled a near fore shoe post race.
199H Arthur’s Legacy Flat Race The Stewards received a report from Mr. Terry Smith, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, which stated that he was unable to positively identify Good Christian, trained by Mr. John G. Carr, when he examined the horse placed before him.
Evidence was heard from Mr. Carr.
Using their powers under Rule 90 (v) the Stewards therefore ordered the withdrawal of Good Christian and referred the matter to the Chief Executive of The Turf Club for further investigation.

(b) in that he used his whip when his chance of winning or being placed had clearly gone and Regulation 10 3.(g) in that he used his whip with his arm above shoulder height. The Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (17th August).
Mr. D.G. Lavery, rider of Special Bar, trained by Mr. Michael O’Hare, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Special Bar was found to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
200B Guinness 17:59 European Breeders Fund Median Auction Maiden F. Lynch rider of Elleval, trained by Mr. David Marnane, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount did not appreciate today’s ground conditions.
200C Guinness Galway Blazers Handicap Steeplechase P. Townend, rider of Victrix Gale, trained by Mr. A.J. Martin, reported to the Stewards Secretaries, that his mount did not travel on today’s ground. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Victrix Gale was found to have lost a shoe in running.
B.J. Cooper, rider of Raz De Maree (FR), trained by Mr. D.T. Hughes, reported to the Stewards Secretaries, that his mount did not travel on today’s ground.

201A Ladbrokes Maiden Hurdle The Stewards enquired into an incident after the final hurdle involving Flemingstown, ridden by Miss C.M. Woods and Hawk Flight, ridden by I.J. McCarthy, both unplaced, after it appeared that interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Miss C.M. Woods was in breach of Rule 214 in that she had ridden carelessly. The Stewards therefore suspended her for one race day (19th August).
201C Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Nursery Handicap The Stewards requested a report from Mr J.T. Gorman, trainer of the winner Cest Notre Gris, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s previous run at Gowran Park on the 3rd July, where he finished fifth of seven.
The trainer reported that he was very disappointed with the horse’s run at Gowran Park. He said he subsequently had the horse examined and blood tested but nothing had come to light to explain that poor performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Cool Metallic, trained by Mr. Patrick Martin, was found to be clinically abnormal post race.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Fontana Di Trevi, trained by Mr. A. Oliver, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount reared in the stalls and missed the break.
201D Ladbrokes Mobile App Handicap The Stewards enquired into an incident shortly after leaving the stalls involving Bubbly Bellini, ridden by I.J. Brennan, Vale Of Clara, ridden by W.M. Lordan, Flameoftheforest, ridden by C.D. Hayes, Bendzoldan ridden by N.G. McCullagh and Lake George, ridden by D. Robinson, all unplaced, after it appeared that interference had taken place. Mr. M. Halford, representing D. Robinson’s Master, Mr. J.S. Bolger, also attended this enquiry.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned and also from Mr. Halford.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found the film recording to be inconclusive and they therefore took no further action.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Flameoftheforest, trained by Mr. Ed de Giles (in GB), was found to be post race normal.
I.J. Brennan, rider of Bubbly Bellini, trained by Mr. Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount stumbled on the road crossing shortly after the start.
201F Ladbrokes “Bet In Play” Handicap The Stewards granted permission for this race to be started by flag due to ground conditions which was unsuitable for stalls transportation around the start area.
The Stewards interviewed J.A. Heffernan, rider of Ballachroy, concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that J.A. Heffernan was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (g) in that he used his whip with his arm above shoulder height. The Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (18th August).
201G Ladbrokes “Like Our Facebook Page” Flat Race The Stewards informed Mr. Kevin Prendergast, trainer of Bonobo, through his authorised representative Mr. Fabian Burke, that his charge may be liable for suspension if there is a recurrence of today’s behaviour at the start after the animal became unruly and gave his rider Mr. C. Motherway no chance of staying in the saddle after a fair start had been effected.
Cork Meeting, 5th August 2012
The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting: K.J. Manning replaced D.A. Parkes (Stewards permission) on Leargas, trained by Mr. J.S. Bolger (first race) and W.M. Lordan replaced W.J. Lee (Stewards permission) on Croi An Or, trained by Mr. T. Stack (fourth race).
202D Platinum Stakes F.M. Berry, rider of Mojita, trained by Mr. K.J. Condon, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount lost her action in the straight and he therefore eased up.
202E Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Give Thanks Stakes D.P. McDonogh, rider of Spirit of Cuba, trained by Mr. Kevin Prendergast, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount felt lame on pulling up. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer confirmed this to the Stewards.
202F Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap Division One F.M. Berry, rider of Akram, trained by Mr. Niall Madden, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount hung badly throughout. The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Akram was found to be lame post race.
202F Tote Trifecta Rollover Handicap Division Two The Stewards requested a report from Mr. C.P. Donoghue, trainer of the winner Gothen Niece, concerning the apparent improvement in form of his charge, particularly compared with her previous run in Tipperary on 24th July, where she finished seventh of 12 runners and was beaten 22 lengths.
Mr. Donoghue reported that Gothen Niece looked lifeless in the preliminaries before racing at Tipperary and subsequently ran a bit flat. He said that he not attribute this below par performance to any one factor, except that perhaps she ate some woodchip shavings before racing in the stableyard at Tipperary which could have affected her performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Tide Runner (GB), trained by Mr. John Joseph Murphy, was found to be clinically abnormal post race.
202G Family Day Out Maiden The Stewards interviewed Mr. Thomas Carmody, trainer of Greatest (FR), after he informed them that he had brought the wrong horse to the races today.
In his evidence Mr. Carmody explained that a girl in the yard prepared the horse and loaded him to travel to the races. He said he presumed everything was in order until he reached the track and on opening the door realised an error had been made.
Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Greatest (FR) and cautioned Mr. Carmody concerning his responsibilities in this regard for the future.

203A Galway Bay FM Beginners Steeplechase The Stewards interviewed M.W. Bowes, rider of The Great Shanghai, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that M.W. Bowes was in breach of Regulation 10 3 (f) in that he used his whip with excessive frequency and Regulation 10 4. in that he failed to give his mount time to respond. The Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (19th and 20th August).
203B Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Hurdle The Stewards received a report from the Turf Club Starter, Mr J.R. Banahan, under Rule 40, which stated that all the riders who participated in this race had failed to comply with his repeated instructions. Evidence was heard from the riders M.P. Butler, R.J. Jones, K.M. Donoghue, B.F. Cawley, B. Hayes, T. Kelly, M.A. Enright, A.P. Heskin, M.J. Bolger, L.A. McKenna, T.C. Carroll, C.D. Maxwell, and J.P. Kerse and from Mr. J.R. Banahan, Turf Club Starter.
Having viewed a recording of the start and considered all the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that all thirteen above named riders were in breach of Rule 208 (f) in that they had failed to comply with the instructions of the Starter. Having taken their previous records in this regard into consideration, the Stewards suspended each of the above individual riders for three race days (19th, 20th and 21st August). However the suspension dates for M.A. Enright differ and they are the 23rd, 24th and 26th August.
The Stewards requested a report from Mr. M.O. Cullinane, trainer of the winner Georgie (GB) regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s previous run over hurdles at Ballinrobe on 26th June where he finished 14th of 16 finishers.
The trainer reported that he was surprised by his horse’s win today as he had eased off working the animal in recent weeks. He said that this, perhaps, had helped to freshen him up. He also stated that the horse is not entirely genuine and that perhaps the undulations of this track, where he has run reasonable well in the past, had helped to bring about an improvement, as he had also run reasonably well here in the past.
Having considered the report the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
203F Trappers Inn Handicap L.F. Roche, rider of Train Of Thought, trained by Mr. D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards Secretaries that his mount ran flat.
