The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Grangee (FR), trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
P. Townend, rider of Grangee (FR) trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.
096B Bective Stud Champion Novice H'dleThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Dysart Dynamo, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be clinically abnormal post race.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Sir Gerhard, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
096C Killashee Hotel H'cap H'dleM.P. Walsh, rider of Glan trained by Gordon Elliott, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount nearly fell at the third last and pulled up afterwards.
The Stewards interviewed Mr. Gordon Elliott, trainer of Eskylane, concerning the late withdrawal of Eskylane in this race with the excuse given as "ground". The Stewards also considered the fact that this race was an extended handicap where an alternative handicap could have applied. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that the horse was withdrawn on the recommendation of D. N. Russell who felt the ground was not suitable for Eskylane. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards referred the matter to the C.E.O. of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board for further investigation.
096E Goffs Land Rover BumperThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Caldwell Potter (FR), trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have a slight bilateral nasal discharge post race.
096F Dooley Insurance Champion Novice S'chaseThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Bob Olinger, trained by Henry de Bromhead, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis.
096H Mick The Tent INH Flat RaceThe Stewards interviewed Mr H.E. Sexton, rider of Storm Barra, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of Regulation 10. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that Mr. H.E. Sexton was in breach of R10.3(b)(out of contention), R10.3(g)(frequency) and R10.3(i)(time to respond) and having considered his record they suspended him for 21 racedays and ordered that he attended R.A.C.E. for tuition on the correct use of the whip.
The Stewards enquired into the conduct of Mr. H.E. Sexton, rider of Storm Barra, and Mr. Adrian Sexton, trainer, prior to the running of this race. Evidence was heard from Mr. H.E. Sexton who stated that his mount was reluctant to go to the start and he was making every effort to encourage his mount. Evidence was also heard from Mr. Adrian Sexton who stated that Storm Barra was a difficult horse to handle. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations of Mr. Adrian Sexton, however they were satisfied that Mr H.E. Sexton was in breach of Rule 272(i) and having considered his record they suspended him for 7 racedays.
Eric Larkin, trainer of Depeche Mo, reported to the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer that his charge had mucus in its trachea post race.
