O.J. Orr, rider of Pearl Palinka trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stumbled leaving the stalls.
C.T. Keane, rider of Pirate Jenny trained by G.M.Lyons, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jinked right at the winning post.
The Stewards enquired into an incident immediately after the winning post involving Pirate Jenny, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed second and Red Lacewing, ridden by A.J. Slattery, placed third, where it appeared that Pirate Jenny leaned towards the parade ring on pulling up and into the path of Red Lacewing who stumbled. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence A.J. Slattery stated that immediately after the winning post Pirate Jenny appeared to look for the parade ring and moved slightly to the right causing his mount to clip her heel and stumble. C.T. Keane stated that his mount, which was fitted with ear plugs, had been under a strong left hand drive when she caught him unaware and edged momentarily toward the parade ring before straightening up. Both riders explained that they were riding fillies that were making their racecourse debut. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the incident was accidental in nature and took no further action.
The Stewards reviewed an incident about one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Rockbury Lad (GB), ridden by L.F. Roche, unplaced, Pearl Palinka, ridden by O.J. Orr, placed sixth and Pirate Jenny, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed second, where it appeared that Rockbury Lad (GB) may have been momentarily tight for room when racing between horses. Having reviewed the recording of that part of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no action was warranted.
248B Welcome Back To Navan Nursery H'capThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Arch Enemy, trained by Michael Mulvany, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
The Stewards reviewed an incident about two furlongs from the finish involving The Smull, ridden by R.C. Colgan, unplaced, Arch Enemy, ridden by W. Joyce, unplaced, Cherry Bloom, ridden by Jack Cleary, unplaced and Holy Divine, ridden by L.T. McAteer, unplaced, where it appeared that The Smull may have edged slightly left causing a knock on effect of the horses inside him which reacted to the movement. Having reviewed the recording of that part of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no action was warranted.
The Stewards reviewed an incident over one furlong from the finish involving Chris's Rose (GB), ridden by Siobhan Rutledge, placed sixth, Benevolent, ridden by S. Foley, placed first and Wild Eyed Girl, ridden by C.P. Hoban, placed third, where it appeared that Chris's Rose reacted to one hit with the whip and veered left causing a slight knock on effect. Having reviewed the recording of that part of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no action was warranted.
248C Irish EBF Median Sires Series M'dnR.C. Colgan, rider of Arges trained by John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly right coming out of stalls.
The Stewards fined W.P.Browne, trainer, €65 for failing to fit a visor to Thismydream, prior to entering the parade ring.
248D Donate To The Coast To Curragh Cycle MdnThe Stewards fined G.M.Lyons, trainer, €65 for fitting a tongue tie to Barretta when not declared to run in it, prior to entering the parade ring.
S. Foley, rider of Windsor Pass trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran around under pressure.
248E Treo Eile, Retraining Racehorses H'capW. Joyce, rider of Take My Hand trained by Michael Mulvany, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount fly leaped coming out of the stalls and unseated him.
248F Kilberry H'capSiobhan Rutledge, rider of Calvados trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that her mount hung right in the straight.
248G Racing Next At Navan On Sept 4th H'capThe Stewards fined J.J.Lambe, trainer, €65 for fitting a tongue tie to Fontainbleau when it was not declared, prior to entering the parade ring.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Forgetthesurprise, trained by Niall Madden, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
C.D. Hayes, rider of North Street trained by J.G.Coogan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was pulled up having burst a blood vessel.
248H Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies M'dnThe Stewards interviewed S. Foley, rider of Sablonne (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, S. Foley stated that his mount was not doing a lot in front but admitted that he miscounted his use of the whip in the competitive finish. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that S. Foley was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended S. Foley for one raceday.
