248D Tally-Ho Stud Irish EBF Ballyogan Stakes

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Sacred Bridge (GB), trained by G.M.Lyons, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Benefit (GB) trained by Clive Cox (in GB), reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got crossed near the finish.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference about two furlongs from the finish involving Benefit (GB), ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed second, Hello You, ridden by B.M. Coen, unplaced, and Perfect News (GB), ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed first, where it appeared that Benefit (GB) may have got tight for room between horses. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, B.M. Coen stated that he was aware of Benefit (GB) racing close to him and he kept his own mount on a straight racing line. D.P. McDonogh stated that his own mount was lugging slightly at this point when Perfect News (GB) was travelling well and manoeuvered out causing him to steady his mount momentarily. C.D. Hayes stated that he observed Benefit (GB) getting unbalanced and being corrected by his rider which left room allowing him to angle out his own mount. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.

248E Irish EBF Median Sires Series (F) M'dn

The Stewards enquired into an incident about two hundred yards from the finish involving Madly Truly, ridden by D. McMonagle, and Highly Desirable, ridden by W.M. Lordan where it appeared that Madly Truly may have moved in quickly on the racing line of Highly Desireable. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, W.M. Lordan stated that his own mount was rolling around when Madly Truly came onto his racing line but at that point there was no issue of being close to her heels. D. McMonagle stated that his mount found the ground to be very quick for her and she ran away from the whip before straightening up again. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no action other than to advise D. McMonagle to ride with more awareness.

248F Junior Einsteins Apprentice H'cap

The Stewards interviewed D.J Gilligan, rider of Alma Libre (FR), concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, D.J. Gilligan stated that his mount was feeling the ground and lugging out but kept responding to his use of the whip. He did, however, accept that he had breached the whip guidelines on the use of the whip. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that D.J. Gilligan was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration and pursuant to the provisions of R10(6)(a), the Stewards suspended D.J. Gilligan for six racedays and referred him to R.A.C.E for one day's tuition on the correct use of the whip. Ms Elaine O'Farrell accompanied D.J. Gilligan at this enquiry.

J.A. Powell, rider of Indulging (GB) trained by T.M. Walsh, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount raced keenly.
