D. McMonagle, rider of Cradle Of Love, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount rolled around off the bridle.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident close to the line involving American Bar, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed first, Cradle Of Love, ridden by D. McMonagle, placed second, and Merrily (USA), ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed fourth, where it appeared Merrily ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. W.M. Lordan stated that his mount was very green and backed out of the gap when the two horses in front rolled around in front of him. W.J. Lee stated that his filly was green and rolled a little left close to the line. D. McMonagle stated that his filly rolled around off the bridle. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the home straight involving Brigid's Cloak (GB), ridden by B.M. Coen, placed sixth, Cradle Of Love, ridden by D. McMonagle, placed second, and Red Veil, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed third where it appeared that an incident took place. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. B.M. Coen stated he received a bump from his right. C.T. Keane stated that he received a bump from Cradle Of Love causing him to make contact with Brigid's Cloak on the rail. D. McMonagle stated that his mount was not straightforward and was wearing cheekpieces for the first time, he stated that she rolled left and right, but felt he had corrected her sufficiently. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that D. McMonagle was in breach of Rule 214 (careless riding) and having considered his record in this regard (second offence), they suspended him for four racedays.
In arriving at their decision, the Raceday Stewards accepted that Mr. McMonagle had made some effort to correct his mount from drifting left by switching his whip into his left hand. However, in the circumstances, they felt that a six stride drift to the left with no correction with the right rein until after the incident had occurred was insufficient and it was through this failing of the rider that they were satisfied that he had failed to take reasonable steps to avoid causing the interference.

McMonagle, placed first, Corky, ridden by W. Joyce, unplaced and Metamorpheus, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed fifth where it appeared an incident occured. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. W. Joyce stated that he was retreating through the field and it got a bit tight at that point on the bend. D.P. McDonogh stated that it got tight at that point on the bend and he was receiving pressure from his outside. C.D. Hayes stated that it was tight riding at that point on the bend also. D. McMonagle stated that he was holding his line on the outside and feels he did not contribute to the incident. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.
