The Stewards interviewed W. Joyce, rider of The Blue Panther, trained by Michael Mulvany, concerning the fact that he stopped riding before the finish when racing in third place and was passed in the last few strides by Atlas to eventually finish in fourth place. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that his mount had travelled well into the race but took a lame step about fifty yards from the finish and he sat up at that stage. Under further questioning W. Joyce did admit that he did not see the fast finishing Atlas and conceded that he would probably have ridden to try to keep third place if he was aware of the challenger. Michael Mulvany, trainer, stated that his charge would stop quickly if left alone. Having viewed the recording and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that W. Joyce was in breach of Rule 212A(iv) by failing to obtain his best possible placing as a result of negligent misjudgement. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended W. Joyce for five racedays and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee. Furthermore, the Stewards under Rule 272(ii) advised W. Joyce to supply more accurate evidence when attending Stewards enquiries.

K.J. Manning, rider of Purple Gown trained by J. S. Bolger, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was badly hampered twice in this race.
The Stewards enquired into an incident about one furlong from the finish involving Dr Patrick, ridden by C.D. Hayes, Dazzling Spirit, ridden by D. McMonagle and Heer At Dawn (GB), ridden by G.F. Carroll, where it appeared that Dr Patrick received interference and checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, C.D. Hayes stated that his mount was staying on one paced when receiving pressure from his outside which left him very short of room requiring evasive action. D. McMonagle stated that Heer At Dawn (GB) edged slightly left and his own mount reacted by diving left but he did not realise that Dr Patrick had not dropped back sufficiently enough at that time. G.F. Carroll stated that his own mount had been hanging left but he corrected him to run straight to the line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found that D. McMonagle was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard the Stewards suspended D. McMonagle for two racedays.
The Stewards reviewed incidents on the bend from the four furlong marker involving Barrys Rock, ridden by G.M. Ryan, Dazzling Spirit, ridden by D. McMonagle and Purple Gown, ridden by K.J. Manning, where it appeared that Purple Gown was hampered twice. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
G.M. Ryan, rider of Barrys Rock trained by Anthony Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got squeezed up at the four furlong marker.
154G Bulmers Secret Orchard Live H'capC.D. Hayes, rider of Oranmore trained by Luke Comer, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran too keen during this race.
