S. Foley, rider of Lily Of The Glen trained by Lee Smyth, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got a little tight for room inside the final one hundred and fifty yards of this race.
C.D. Hayes, rider of Sod's Law (GB) trained by Luke Comer, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was hampered by the second horse during this race.
J. Coen, rider of Draco Pulchrac trained by A.J.Martin, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stood in the starting stalls when they opened.
S.P. Davis, rider of Tooso trained by P.Cluskey, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount did not act on the ground.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Out On Friday, ridden by K.J. Leonard, placed first, Lily Of The Glen, ridden by S. Foley, placed third, and Spirituoso (GB), ridden by James J. Doyle, placed second, where it appeared that Out On Friday drifted left and Lily Of The Glen checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, S. Foley stated that Out On Friday was drifting to the left but his own mount had levelled off and ran out of room leaving him to check but not affecting his final placing. James J. Doyle stated that he had maintained a straight course in the closing stages and that Out On Friday came out towards his own mount. K.J. Leonard stated that his mount was three off the rails and he switched his whip hand but he drifted left in the final one hundred yards. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that K.J. Leonard was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard the Stewards suspended him for four racedays. .
The Stewards fined Brendan W.Duke, trainer, €65 for failing fit the declared cheek pieces to Pride Of Pimlico, prior to entering the parade ring.
232C Ir.Stallion Farms EBF Hurry Harriet StksT.P. Madden, rider of Himalayan Beauty trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got very upset in the starting stalls.
S. Foley, rider of Paris Peacock trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount leaned right in the final one hundred yards.
The Stewards reviewed an incident about one furlong from the finish involving Contarelli Chapel, ridden by W.M. Lordan. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
232E Open Week At Gowran Park H'capJ. Coen, rider of Andreas Vesalius trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got stopped twice in the straight.
W.M. Lordan, rider of Blairmayne trained by Natalia Lupini, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount suffered interference in the straight.
S. Foley, rider of Lord Dudley trained by Kieran P. Cotter, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount leaned left up the straight.
J.A. Heffernan, rider of One Small Step trained by Kevin Thomas Coleman, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount leaned a little right in the straight.
The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the two furlong marker involving Spanish Tenor, ridden by C.J. MacRedmond, unplaced, Andreas Vesalius, ridden by J. Coen, placed fourth, Blairmayne, ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed sixth, Lord Dudley, ridden by S. Foley, placed fifth, Massaman, ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed second, and One Small Step, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, placed first, where it appeared that all horses were involved and a second case of possible interference about one hundred yards from the finish involving Andreas Vesalius, Lord Dudley and One Small Step. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence R.P. Whelan stated that his mount pulled a shoe, lugged right and was straightened up. W.J. Lordan stated that he received pressure from his inside. J. Coen stated that in the first incident a gap opened and he got halfway into it before receiving pressure from his inside. In relation to the later interference, he stated that he got tightened in between horses after the winner had rolled inwards. C.J. MacRedmond stated that he gave his mount two backhanders with the whip, felt a bump from his right which made his mount go left. S. Foley stated that in the first incident his mount leaned left and jinked in the straight. He had tried to correct him with his whip in his left hand but in his opinion his mount did not help him, was difficult to ride and was feeling the fast ground. In relation to the later interference he stated that his mount was there under sufferance. J.A. Heffernan stated that in the first incident Lord Dudley was leading on the wrong leg and while he had heard shouting, it was behind him and his own mount was clear of trouble. In relation to the later interference he stated that in his opinion he was clear of any trouble behind his own mount. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that S. Foley was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered his record in this regard the Stewards in relation to the first incident, suspended S. Foley for two racedays. Furthermore, the Stewards advised J.A. Heffernan to ride with more awareness.
R.P. Whelan, rider of Massaman, trained by Jack W. Davison, reported at a Stewards' enquiry that his mount pulled a shoe during this race.
