The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final 150 yards of this race involving Dont Go Yet, ridden by C.D. Timmons, placed second, Forrard Away, ridden by K.M. Donoghue, placed third and Mattie's Mountain, ridden by K.J. Brouder, placed first, where it appeared that Mattie's Mountain continued to drift right resulting in the challengers being tightened for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings. They did, however, consider that interference was caused by K.J. Brouder riding carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended K.J. Brouder for 2 racedays.

K.J. Brouder, rider of Mattie's Mountain, trained by Eoin Christopher McCarthy, reported at the Stewards enquiry that his mount continuously hung to the right in the closing stages of this race.

S.D. Torrens, rider of Coolamber trained by Seamus Neville, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly left inside the final mile and moreso in the straight.

The Stewards interviewed P. Corcoran, trainer of Patriot Poet, regarding the late arrival of the horse into the Parade Ring which was subsequently withdrawn by order of the Stewards. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that he was attending to his charge on his own and had no raceday help. He added that his charge was making his racecourse debut and proved very difficult to saddle. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that P. Corcoran was in breach of Rule 32(ii) by failing to have his charge in the parade ring in a reasonable time before the signal to mount was given. Having taken into consideration his clean previous record in this regard, the Stewards cautioned P. Corcoran on this occasion and advised him that he should have sufficient assistance when running horses in the future.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Raya Time (FR), ridden by D.P. Holden, and trained by Henry de Bromhead. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. D.P. Holden, stated that he was instructed to jump off and get his mount settled, get him jumping, switched off and get him home running on in the end. He reviewed the video in the presence of the Stewards and showed his mount to be more prominent than expected and to have jumped well throughout for a novice. He added that he expected his mount to get tired on ground that did not suit and held him together to get him to finish. Henry de Bromhead, confirmed the instructions and added that his charge had taken a fall at Killarney on the 5th October. He further added that the focus today was to get his charge settled, give him a chance and let him creep into the race and ensure that he ran as well as possible. He informed the Stewards that his charge wore a hood as he can be very keen. In his opinion on review of the video of the race he felt that his rider could have done more in the latter stages of the race but was also cognisant that he had instructed the rider to get around and to get his best position. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Raya Time (FR) was post race normal. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the trainers explanation. They were, however, satisfied that D.P. Holden was in breach of Rule 212(A)(2) by riding his horse in such a way that the horse was not seen to have been the subject of a genuine attempt to obtain from the horse timely, real and substantial efforts to achieve his best possible place. Having taken his good previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended D.P. Holden for 10 racedays and ordered that he forfeit his riding fee. Ms Justice Leonie Reynolds absented herself from this enquiry and Mr Jack Rearden acted as Chairman of the Acting Stewards.

Having considered the evidence, the Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Watermelon Girl and referred the matter to a Senior Racing Official for further investigation.
