175A GAIN Railway Stakes

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident in the closing stages involving Henri Matisse, ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed first, and The Strikin Viking, ridden by T. Eaves, placed second, where it appeared both horses drifted slightly in. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

W.M. Lordan, rider of Henri Matisse, trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount leaned right in the closing stages and he used his whip for corrective purposes. Having reviewed the incident the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

175D Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the final 200 yards involving Ambiente Friendly, ridden by Robert Havlin, Matsuri (GB), ridden by James Doyle and Sunway (FR), ridden by O. Murphy where it appeared Matsuri (GB) got tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. James Doyle stated that he got squeezed up a touch going to the line and received marginal pressure from both sides. O. Murphy stated he was making up ground on the outside and his mount ran pretty straight. Robert Havlin stated that in the last half furlong his mount was getting tired, he made a move to keep off Los Angeles's heels and his mount exaggerated the move. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found Robert Havlin in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having taken his record into account (first offence) suspended him for one race day.

175E Dubai Duty Free Rockingham H'cap

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Sturlasson, trained by Kieran P. Cotter, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

175F Dubai Duty Free Derby Festival H'cap

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference approximately one furlong from the finish involving Booyea, ridden by G.M. Ryan, placed first, and No More Porter, ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed second, where it appeared Booyea shifted out and bumped No More Porter. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. R.P. Whelan stated that he was getting rolling, following the two in front when he received a bump and was taken slightly off his racing line but it didn't cost him the race. G.M. Ryan stated they went a fast gallop out in front, the two horses were stopping in front of him, he switches out and his mount over exaggerated the move but he felt the best horse won the race. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Booyea had caused interference to No More Porter he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that G.M. Ryan, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record (second offence) in this regard the Raceday Stewards suspended him for four race days.

R.P. Whelan, rider of No More Porter, trained by Adrian McGuinness, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received a bump a furlong out.

The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident at the start involving Verhoyen (GB), ridden by D.E. Sheehy, where it appeared Verhoyen's stall opens slightly ahead of the others. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that this occurred after the starter had started the race and were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed Thomas Gibney, trainer of Booyea, regarding the late arrival of the horse into the Parade Ring. Evidence was heard from the trainer who stated that stated this is a difficult horse that became very difficult to saddle. He tried to saddle him when the other runners had gone into the ring but was unable to do so and eventually took him to the back of the pre-parade ring to calm him down and saddle him. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards reminded the trainer of his responsibilities in this regard.

S. Foley, rider of Norwalk Havoc (GB), trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran off the bend.

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Joseph G. Murphy, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Lord Massusus, placed first, as compared with its recent form.
