134C Weatherbys Ireland Greenlands Stakes

The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference just inside the furlong pole involving Art Power, ridden by D. Allan, placed fourth and Regional (GB), ridden by Callum Rodriguez, placed second, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. Allan said he received a bump which he felt cost him momentum. Callum Rodriguez said his mount went left momentarily but was corrected and ran straight to the line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were of the opinion that while Regional had caused interference to Art Power, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. Furthermore, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider, as they determined that Callum Rodriguez had taken all reasonable steps to prevent the interference from occurring.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.P. Spencer, rider of Mitbaahy, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Spencer was in breach of Regulation 10.3(h)(arm above shoulder) and having considered his record (first offence), they suspended him for two racedays.

McMonagle said his mount rolled around but felt he kept reasonably straight.
