The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:
S. Foley replaced N.M. Crosse on Papa K, trained by Mrs John Harrington (Race 2)(Intended mount was a non runner)240A Irish Stallion Farms EBF M'dn
The Stewards enquired into an incident about three furlongs from the finish involving Better Not Bitter, ridden by D. McMonagle, placed third and Benitoite, ridden by S. Foley, placed second, where it appeared that Better Not Bitter may have caused interference to Benitoite when making an outward manoeuvre to start his run. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, S.Foley stated that Better Not Bitter edged out and made contact with his own mount which is a small filly. D. McMonagle stated that he was caught behind Sussex (USA) and he edged out into a narrow gap but his mount changed leads and made contact with Benitoite. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was caused by D. McMonagle riding carelessly, this being a breach of Rule 214. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended D. McMonagle for one raceday.
