147F Cork Derby

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Federica Sophia, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed second, Tejano, ridden by K.J. Manning, unplaced, Sense Of Worth, ridden by B.M. Coen, unplaced, and Ballycaines, ridden by A. J. Slattery, unplaced, where it appeared that Tejano got tight for room and had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C. T. Keane stated that he felt he was clear when he moved across. K. J. Manning stated that the horse in front of him was hanging off the rail and as he moved out the horse outside him moved in causing him to check. B. M. Coen stated that his mount is a very big horse and he took only a precautionary check. A. J. Slattery stated that his mount hung badly throughout and he had to stop riding to try and keep it straight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Ballycaines hanging off the rail had been a contributing factor to the incident and they took no further action other than to remind C. T. Keane to ride with more awareness in the future.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving The Names Jock, ridden by M.P. Sheehy, unplaced and Morph Speed, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed first, where it appeared that The Names Jock had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. M. P. Sheehy stated that there was no contact between the two but he took a precautionary check and it made no difference to him. C. D. Hayes stated that he felt he had kept a straight line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

A.J. Slattery, rider of Ballycaines trained by B.A.Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly throughout.

147G1 Fermoy Hcap

The Stewards requested a report from David Peter Nagle, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Scream, placed first, as compared with its most recent run. Amelia Turner, Authorised Representative for the trainer concerned stated that the application of the first time cheek pieces had helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given.

S. Foley, rider of Lapilli (GB) trained by Damian Joseph English, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost it's action at half way.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Praying Mantis, trained by Andrew Kinirons, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

147G2 Fermoy Hcap

The Stewards interviewed M.A. Gallagher, rider of Miss Florentine, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that M. A. Gallagher was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency. Having considered M. A. Gallagher's record in this regard the Stewards suspended M. A. Gallagher for one raceday.
