The Stewards wished to enquire into the fall of Musical Melody, ridden by T. Joseph Kelly on the run down the hill. As the rider was under Medical care, the Stewards referred this matter to a Senior Racing Official for further investigation.

At the request of the Stewards, T. Joseph Kelly, rider of Musical Melody, trained by Miss J.M.Lee, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that on the run down the hill approaching the straight, he was trying to get his mount back when he was crossed and his ground was taken. He felt that his mount may have clipped heels at this point.

The Stewards requested a report from David Harry Kelly, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Corkbeg, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Kilbeggan on the 2nd September when pulled up. The trainer reported that his charge got very upset on the long walk from the stables to the saddling stalls at Kilbeggan. Today his charge settled well from the time she arrived at the racecourse.
