The Stewards interviewed I.J. Power, rider of More Wine Lilly, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, the rider stated that his mount had jammed on at a road crossing earlier in the race and on the run to the final hurdle he used his whip down the shoulder with his hands off the reins to encourage his mount to jump fluently. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that I.J. Power was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended I.J. Power for 1 raceday. Mr M. Murphy, Acting Steward, did not attend this enquiry.

The Stewards reviewed an incident at the road crossing in the straight on the first circuit where More Wine Lily, ridden by I.J. Power appeared to hesitate before the road and Grattan Quay, ridden by R.A. Doyle checked off heels. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Colman's Courage trained by A.J. McNamara, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount jumped poorly in the early stages of this race.

The Stewards enquired into an incident at the road crossing in the straight on the final circuit involving Clarabello (FR), ridden by S.F. O'Keeffe, placed sixth, Fort William, ridden by Mr S. Fitzgerald, placed third and Presenting Bonnie, ridden by D.E. Mullins, placed fifth, where it appeared that Fort William hung left and impeded Clarabello (Fr) in the area of the road crossing. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S.F. O'Keeffe stated that he was pushed out at the road crossing by Fort William. Mr S. Fitzgerald stated that his mount was hanging violently to the left and in an attempt to go through a gap, his mount went left causing interference. D.E. Mullins stated that he had maintained a correct course off the final bend. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference was accidental in nature and took no further action. In light of the evidence submitted during this enquiry by Mr S. Fitzgerald, the Stewards were satisfied that he was in breach of Rule 213 (ii) by failing to report at first instance that his mount had hung violently to the left during the closing stages of this race. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration in this regard, the Stewards cautioned Mr. S. Fitzgerald on this occasion.

The Stewards enquired into possible interference at the final hurdle involving Porky Rush, ridden by Mr J.P. Kirwan, placed fifth, Tullyveery Lad, ridden by D. Meyler, placed fourth and Close Enough, ridden by M. Hamill, placed sixth, where it appeared that all horses jumped the flattened panel of hurdles and collided in so doing . Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. M. Hamill stated that he tried to steer his mount to jump the upright panel but the filly went right and jumped the flattened panel causing a collision. D. Meylor stated that similarly his mount went left at this hurdle and jumped the flattened panel causing a collision. Mr. J.P. Kirwan stated that he was in line to jump the flattened panel but received interference from both sides when all three horses jumped the same flattened panel. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that any interference was accidental in nature and made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Boherlug, ridden by C.A. Landers, and trained by Michael J. McDonagh. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer's representative concerned. Jamie Ivors, Authorised representative for Michael J. McDonagh, stated that this animal had been acquired from another trainer last Friday. Having viewed the video of his only previous run the rider was instructed to ride the animal rear to mid division, get him to settle, creep into the race and do his best. C.A. Landers, rider, confirmed the instructions and explained his riding while reviewing the video with the Stewards. He stated that he jumped off from a wide position but his mount was keen from flagfall. He added that he met some interference on the downhill run on the first circuit when his mount had latched onto the bit. He was satisfied with his position until crossing the top of the track where his mount hit a flat spot and did not respond to his urgings until staying on past tired horses in the closing stages. He felt that he could not have been any closer than his finishing position. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Boherlug was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations.

The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Sil Ver Klass (FR), ridden by R.M. Power and trained by A.J.Martin. Evidence was heard from the trainer and rider concerned. A.J. Martin, stated that as his charge jumps well he instructed the rider to jump off third or fourth and to ride him for speed. R.M. Power, confirmed the instructions and explained his ride while reviewing the video of the race with the Stewards. He said that he lined up along the inside and on a fast pace to the first fence, his mount guessed at it, was very careful at the second and jumped very high at the third fence leaving him further back off the leaders than intended. From this point he wanted to restore confidence into his mounts jumping and from thereon his jumping did improve. He added that on the downhill run on the final circuit he was tight for room and got shuffled backwards leaving him well off the leaders. He advised that in the circumstances that he had obtained the best possible placing. The Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who stated that Sil Ver Klass (FR) was post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanations.
