Irish Racing Calendar, 3rd October 2013

The following trainer was fined 200 euros for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provision of Rule 194(v) (vi):- J.F. Levins for Jumbo Steps (stiff & sore) at Listowel 18th September 2013.

Adrian Brendan Joyce, trainer of Times In Anatefka, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Friday 27th September that his charge has had a wind operation since her last run at Dundalk on 3rd May 2013.

Tipperary Meeting 23rd September 2013

260A Super Sunday 6th October Claiming Race & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Mindy, trained by P.J. Prendergast, was found to be post race normal.

260D Tipperaryraces.ie Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards interviewed L.A. McKenna, rider of She’s Not Simple, placed third, concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that L.A. McKenna was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with the arm above shoulder height.
Having taken his record into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.

D.E. Hogan, rider of Dorothy Parker, trained by Kevin Prendergast, reported to the Stewards’ Secretaries that his mount became upset in the parade ring and never travelled in this race.

Ballinrobe Meeting, 24th September 2013

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:-.
P.T. Enright replaced M.J. Ferris on Monamintra, trained by Paul W. Flynn (Race 1) (Transport difficulties).

261A Ballinrobe Members Club 2014 3-y-o Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Jan Van Eyck (USA), trained by Gerard O’Leary, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Moss Street (GB), trained by Gordon Elliott, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be slightly lame behind post race.

Ms. Joanna Morgan, trainer of desiderata, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 30th September that her charge scoped badly post race.

Donncha Duggan, trainer of Paternoster (GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.

261B Ballinrobe Racecourse Of The Year Handicap Hurdle & D.N. Russell, rider of Laughing Boy, trained by Mrs D.A. Love, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was slowly away and was reluctant to race.

P.T. Enright, rider of Backinyourbox, trained by Edward Cawley, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount changed his legs in the back straight and was therefore pulled up.

M. Flannery, trainer of Second Glance, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge scoped badly post race.

261C Sponsors Day At Ballinrobe Mares Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards fined R. McGlinchey €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Our Maimie in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

A.P. Crowe, rider of Divine Steps, trained by Tracey Collins, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount went lame in running and was therefore pulled up.

261D(ii) www.ballinroberacecourse.ie Handicap Hurdle (Division Two) & The Stewards requested a report from Miss Jennifer Lee, Authorised representative for Miss Susan A. Finn, trainer of the winner Vicalus, regarding the apparent improvement in form of this animal compared with the horse’s recent form.
Miss Lee reported that this filly won a Point to Point at Stradbally last May and had disappointed on both subsequent runs on the racetrack. She felt that at Killarney the filly raced very wide and found nothing off the bridle. She said that in the horse’s previous race at Ballinrobe she was running soon after coming out of season which might be a contributing factor to her performance that day. She concluded by saying that the filly was unable to go the fast early pace today, but that the runners came back to her in the latter stages and she stayed on well in the closing stages.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted its content.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Kinneagh Cross, trained by Ronald O’Leary, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame behind post race.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Asithappens, trained by Liam Casey, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame behind post race.

261E Follow Ballinrobe On Facebook Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards granted permission for Be Positive, trained by E. Bolger, to race without the declared tongue strap after the trainer reported that he was unable to fit this equipment because of the horses behaviour.

261F Martinstown Opportunity Handicap Steeplechase & A. Ring, rider of Ample Appeal, trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a mistake, soon lost interest and was eventually pulled up.

Downpatrick Meeting, 27th September 2013

262A Join The Fundraiser Maiden Hurdle & J.J. Lambe, trainer of Hot Prospect (GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge did not jump well early on, but stayed on past tired horses in the closing stages.

S.E. Butler, rider of Cooleys Reel, trained by Seamus Fahey, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.

S.J. Gray, rider of Tara Dream, trained by M.V. Manning, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a noise in running.

262B Monster Raffle Handicap Hurdle & Seamus Fahey, trainer of Cyras Love, reported to the Officer of the Governing Bodies on Tuesday 1st October that his charge was struck into on her near hind and as a result needed stitches post race.

262C Tombola Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Butney Boy, trained by C.A. McBratney, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame in front post race.

262D Jonjo Bright Trust Beginners Steeplechase &Andrew J. McNamara, rider of Bachelor Lad, trained by C.A. McBratney, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran lifeless in this race.

262E Supporting Jonjo European Breeders Fund Beginners Steeplechase & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Good Time In Milan, trained by Donal Aidan O’Brien, was found to be slightly lame post race.

262G Come Back And Visit Us I.N.H. Flat Race & Paul W. Flynn, trainer of Paddy Roe, reported to the Stewards’ Secretaries that his charge kept changing his legs in this race and was found to be lame post race.

Dundalk Meeting, 27th September 2013

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:-.
I.J. Brennan rode Future Earner (reserve), trained by F. Costello (Race 4).

263A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Premier Nursery Handicap & The Stewards interviewed C.R. King, rider of Sign From Heaven, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned in the presence of Malik Ahmad, representing David Wachman, master of C.R. King.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that C.R. King was in breach of Regulation 10, in that he had used his whip with his arm above shoulder height.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (11th October).
Mr. N.B. Wachman, Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry and Judge Tony Hunt acted as Chairman.

263C Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & The Stewards interviewed J.P. O’Brien, rider of the winner Red Rocks Point, concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that J.P .O’Brien was in breach of Regulation 10 4 in that he had failed to give him mount time to respond.
Having taken his record in this regard into account and the exceptional circumstances, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (11th October).

The Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final furlong involving the winner Red Rocks Point, ridden by J.P. O’Brien, and Cheeky Chappie, ridden by W.M. Lordan, placed second.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.
Mr. N.B. Wachman., Acting Steward, absented himself from this enquiry and Judge Tony Hunt acted as Chairman.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Centre Of Interest (USA), trained by J.S. Bolger, appeared to have been struck into during the running of this race.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Third Dimension (GB), trained by G.M. Lyons, was found to be post race normal.

263D(i) Christmas Party Night at Dundalk Stadium Handicap (Division One) & The Stewards interviewed S. Foley, rider of Red Laser, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that S. Foley was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip down the shoulder in the forehand position.
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (11th October).

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Pim Street (USA), trained by W. McCreery, was found to be post race normal.

263D(ii) Christmas Party Night at Dundalk Stadium Handicap (Division Two) &
The Stewards interviewed D.M. Grant, rider of Zelos Dream, placed fifth, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D.M. Grant was in breach of Rule 211.
Having taken his record into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.

M.C. Hussey, rider of Beuno Cailin, trained by Eamonn O’Connell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly throughout this race.

263E Crowne Plaza Race & Stay Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards interviewed M. Monaghan, rider of At Boolavogue, unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that M. Monaghan was in breach of Regulation 10 in that he had used his whip with the arm above shoulder height.
Having taken his record into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned him as to his future responsibilities in this regard.

The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Carvelas, ridden by R. Dawson, placed third, Lonan, ridden by C.P. Hoban, placed fifth, and At Boolavogue, ridden by M. Monaghan, unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards gave the riders the benefit of the doubt in deeming the incident to be accidental in nature and took no further action.

R. Coakley, rider of Mistress Of Rome (GB), trained by Denis W. Cullen, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not stride out well in the straight.

Navan Meeting, 28th September 2013

The Stewards fined the following trainers in respect of their non-runners:-.
Miss Sharon Dunphy, trainer of Themanwiththeplan (Declared in error) - €200.
James M. Barrett, trainer of Like A Ballerina (Transport difficulty) - €200.

264B Slane Maiden Hurdle &P.T. Enright, rider of Western Bond, trained by V.T. O’Brien, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a gurgling sound after jumping the third last hurdle in this race.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined The Shaughraun, trained by Miss Elizabeth Anne Lalor, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have a sore shin post race.

264C Racing Again Wednesday 9th October Handicap Hurdle & D.E. Splaine, rider of Define, trained by J. Motherway, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount slipped going into the back straight and lost all momentum.

264D Kells Handicap Hurdle & J.L. Cullen, rider of Ballyspellan Lad, trained by Miss M.M. Gannon, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount stumbled rounding the final bend and gave him no chance of staying in the saddle.

A.P. Thornton, rider of Insouciant Susie, trained by Donal Kinsella, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stumbled at the bend into the back straight and lost her confidence thereafter.

Following an inspection of the course by the Acting Stewards after the running of the fourth race, the track was found to be unfit for the continuation of racing due to deteriorating ground conditions. The Stewards therefore abandoned the remainder of the meeting in the interest of safety. A deputation of trainers and riders were consulted prior to this decision having been taken.

Curragh Meeting, 29th September 2013

The Stewards fined the following trainer in respect of his non-runner:-.
G.M. Lyons, trainer of Exogenesis (Sale pending) - €1,000.

265A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the early stages of this race involving the winner, Tested (GB), ridden by P.J. Smullen, Blueberry Gal, ridden by N.G. McCullagh, Eriniya, ridden by D.P. McDonogh, Muileata, ridden by K.J. Manning, Power and Passion, ridden by W.M. Lordan, and Wind Inher Sleeves, ridden by F.M. Berry, all unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that the incident was accidental in nature and was caused by Eriniya running freely and leaning inwards.
The Stewards therefore took no further action.

B.A. Curtis, rider of Ringtone, trained by Patrick Tallis, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled in this race.

265D C.L. Weld Park Stakes & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Minorette (USA), trained by A.P. O’Brien, was found to be post race normal.

265E Irish Times Handicap & R. Coakley, rider of Strait Of Zanzibar (USA), trained by K.J. Condon, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung badly in this race.

265F Mongey Communications Joe McGrath Handicap & J.P. Murtagh, rider of Gathering Power, trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unable to get a clear run in this race.

Turf Club Calendar Notices – Week 41

Irish Racing Calendar, 10th October 2013

The following trainer was fined €200 for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provision of Rule 194(v) (vi):-J.J. Lambe for Brookland Dancer (stiff) at Dundalk on 27th September and Peter Fahey for Lusobar (lame) at Navan on 28th September 2013.

Roscommon Meeting, 30th September 2013

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of riders at this meeting:-.
M.C. Hussey rode All Is Not Lost (reserve), trained by Thomas Cleary (Race 1).
A.P. Heskin replaced P.T. Enright on Shahrafi, trained by Thomas Gibney (Race 7) Injured.

266A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden & The Stewards received a report from Ms. Nicola O’Connor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, in relation to the failure of M. Halford, trainer of Kings Ryker, to furnish a veterinary certificate in accordance with rule 148(v)(a) following treatment for an active skin disease.
Mr Halford accepted that his charge Kings Ryker had been treated recently for an active skin disease and therefore agreed with the findings of the Turf Club Veterinary Officer. He added that he was at the bloodstock sales this morning and had requested his own veterinary surgeon to fax a certificate directly to the racecourse. He accepted that the relevant veterinary certificate should have accompanied his charge when entering the stable yard.
During the course of this enquiry the certificate arrived by fax a short time before the first race.
Having considered the report, the Stewards allowed Kings Ryker to run but reminded Mr Halford regarding his responsibility to comply with the content of Rule 148(v)(a).

266B Follow Roscommon On Facebook Handicap & The Stewards requested a report from Gerard Keane, trainer of the winner Captain Cullen, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s recent form.
Gerard Keane reported that his charge broke smartly, ran freely and weakened quickly in his previous run at Gowran Park on 22nd September whereas today the animal settled in mid division and stayed on well in the closing stages.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted its content.

R.P. Cleary, rider of Norville, trained by Lee Smyth, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount received interference from a loose horse on the final bend.

I.J. McCarthy, rider of Cash Or Casualty, trained by Damian Joseph English, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount fly leaped on leaving the starting stalls, stumbled after a few strides and as a result unseated him.

266E Kilbegnet European Breeders Fund Novice Steeplechase & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Shadow Eile, trained by Mrs D.A. Love, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be lame behind post race.

266F Roscommon On-Course Vets Handicap Steeplechase & D.J. Casey, rider of Our Girl Lucy, trained by Thomas Cooper, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a mistake on the second circuit and never travelled thereafter.

Sligo Meeting, 2nd October 2013

The Stewards fined the following trainers in respect of their non-runners:-.

267A www.countysligoraces.com Mares Beginners Steeplechase & R.C. Colgan, rider of Esta Roche, trained by William J. McLernon, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not handle today’s ground.

267B Frank O’Beirne Memorial Beginners Steeplechase & D.G. Hogan, rider of Rory’s Brother, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped poorly and did not handle today’s ground.

D.J. Casey, rider of Mitebeall Forluck (GB), trained by A.L.T. Moore, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped inconsistently and did not like today’s ground.

D.J. Howard, rider of Duty Dance, trained by Daniel John Howard, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he hung onto his mount as long as possible to try to ensure that she would finish out her race, and she stayed on past tired horses late on.

M.P. Walsh, rider of Skip A Beat, trained by F. Flood, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount weakened quickly and was therefore pulled up.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Skip A Beat at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be clinically abnormal post race.

267C Foley’s Bar & Off Licence Handicap Steeplechase & Adrian Maguire, trainer of Qhilimar (FR), reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge was struck into and was lame on finishing.

267F St Angela’s College Sligo Student Day At Sligo Races Handicap Steeplechase & M.P. Fogarty, rider of Thelobstercatcher (GB), trained by P.A. Fahy, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was carried wide off the bend past the stands having suffered accidental interference.

The Stewards instructed the Turf Club Veterinary Officer to obtain samples from Western Star, trained by Aidan Anthony Howard, a runner in this race.

Clonmel Meeting, 3rd October 2013

The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of riders at this meeting:-.
N.P. Madden rode Turtle Miss (reserve), trained by Anthony Mullins (Race 1).
M.J. Ferris replaced S.J. Hassett on Crystal Wings, trained by Thomas Cleary (Race 2).

268A Kilmore Maiden Hurdle & R. Walsh, rider of Dancers Dilemma, trained by D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards’ Secretaries that his mount jumped poorly and hung right in running.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Dancers Dilemma was found to be post race normal.

268B Laganore Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards fined S.J. Hassett, rider, €200 in accordance with Rule 196(v), for failing to present himself to be weighted out on Crystal Wings in this race.

D.G. Hogan, rider of Empresario, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Stewards’ Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.

268D Nire Valley Handicap Hurdle & P. Townend, rider of Taken Twice, trained by Michael J. McDonagh, reported to the Stewards’ Secretaries that his mount ran too freely in the early stages and also made a respiratory noise in the latter stages of this race.

Gowran Park Meeting, 4th October 2013

269A Thomastown Maiden Hurdle & K.M. Donoghue, rider of Balrath Hope, trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made mistakes at the last four hurdles, checked turning into the straight and stayed on past beaten horses.

269B Gowran Park Maiden Hurdle & D.J. Condon, rider of Devils Paintbrush, trained by Noel Meade, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel and was therefore pulled up.

B.J. Cooper, rider of Charming Blue (FR), trained by Arthur Goulding, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount pulled up lame.

269F Freshford Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Mrs John Harrington, trainer, of the winner Fresh By Nature, regarding the apparent improvement in form of her charge compared with the horse’s recent form.
The trainer reported that the horse disappointed the last day on very deep ground at Listowel and added that today’s change in riding tactics on better ground appeared to have helped the horse return to form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted it’s content.

Dundalk Meeting, 4th October 2013

270A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Auction Maiden & C.P. Hoban, rider of Show Your Face, trained by A. Oliver, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount moved poorly throughout this race and was consequently eased.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Show Your Face at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be stiff post race.

C.R. King, rider of Botanical Lady, trained by H. Rogers, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran very free early on in this race.

270B Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident about one and half furlongs from the finish involving Salvado, ridden by R. Dawson, placed third, Pierre D’Or, ridden by L.P. Dempsey, and Amazing Star, ridden by P.K. Donovan, both unplaced, after it appeared that Amazing Star ran short of room and had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised both R. Dawson and L.P. Dempsey to ride with more care.
J.T. Gorman, trainer of Pierre D’Or attended this enquiry with Apprentice Jockey L.P. Dempsey.

The Stewards enquired into an incident about two furlongs from the finish involving Midfield General, ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed second, and Toufan Express (GB), ridden by I.J. Brennan, unplaced, after it appeared that Toufan Express (GB) checked when racing close to the running rail.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action.

The Stewards enquired into an incident about 150 yards from the finish involving Midfield General, ridden by R.P. Whelan, placed second, and Antiquus, ridden by C.J. Orr, unplaced, after it appeared that Antiquus ran short of room and had to check.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Whelan had caused interference by riding carelessly (Rule 214).
Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (10th October ).
Ms Joanna Morgan, trainer of Antiquus, attended this enquiry with her Apprentice Jockey C.J. Orr.

B.P. Dawson, rider of Impressioniste, trained by Luke Comer, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly throughout this race.

Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action.

The Stewards fined Noel Lawlor, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Phoenix County (GB) in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

272B Tote Jackpot Races 3 To 6 Handicap & The Stewards received a report from P.L. Malone, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that R.P. Whelan, rider of Morga, placed fifth, weighed in more than 1.5lbs above the correct weight.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he had exercised vigorously earlier in the day in order to do the weight, which he done successfully for the first race, but took in fluids after weighing out for this race as he felt more dehydrated as the day went on.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P Whelan was in breach of Rule 231.
Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therfore suspended him for one race day (20th October).
Mr E. Irwin, trainee Acting Steward, also attended this enquiry.

D.K. Weld, trainer of Resolute Response, reported to the Office of the Governing Bodies on Monday 7th October that his charge was struck into behind, had superficial cuts and was found to be lame post race.

The Stewards informed A. Oliver, trainer of Dubaya (GB) that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.

272C Coolmore Stud Home Of Champions Concorde Stakes. & J.P. O’Brien, rider of Most Improved, trained by AP O’Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled in this race.

Tramore Meeting, 10th October 2013

275A www.tramore-racecourse.com Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into the circumstances surrounding the start of this race where Wilde Sapphire, trained by Henry de Bromhead, and ridden by A.E. Lynch, appeared to be facing the wrong way when the race started and consequently started a considerable distance behind.
Evidence was heard from P.L.Malone, Turf Club Starter, who stated that there were two false starts, the first one as a result of a fractious horse cutting in ahead of the field. The second false start was as a result of a malfunction of the starting tape, which failed to release and as a result two jockeys were unseated.
Mr Malone concluded by saying that leading up to the actual start he was distracted by another fractious horse who had previously unseated his rider and as a result failed to notice A.E. Lynch facing the wrong way.
Evidence was also heard from the trainer and rider concerned.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the result to stand, however, they referred the matter to the Chief Executive of the Turf Club for further investigation.

275F Tramore Racecourse Supporters Club Handicap Steeplechase & PThe Stewards requested a report from J.R.Finn, trainer of the winner Molinero, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge.
The trainer reported that the horse disappointed on his last start at Downpatrick having travelled poorly to the races. He added that the horse was ridden more prominently today on slightly better ground, which would have contributed to the return to form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Molinero, trained by J.R. Finn, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.

Dundalk Meeting, 11th October 2013

276A Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund (C&G) Median Auction Maiden & The Stewards enquired into an incident about two furlongs from the finish involving Magnolia Beach, ridden by E.J. McNamara, placed second, and Intensified, ridden by K.J. Manning, unplaced, after it appeared that Intensified was checked when racing close to the running rail.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that E.J. McNamara was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly.
Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore
suspended him for three race days (25th, 26th October and 1st November).

276B Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Maiden & The Stewards requested a report from Gerard Flynn, Authorised representative of J.S. Bolger, trainer of the winner Edge Of Sanity, regarding the apparent improvement in form of the horse compared with the animal’s previous run.
Mr Flynn stated that the colt made his seasonal reappearance at Listowel when racing in a handicap. In running he was off the bridle for the entire race which was run on heavy ground. Today the animal returned to maiden company and despite being off the bridle early on, he came on the bridle before the turn into the straight and improved as the race progressed.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted its content.

F.M. Berry, rider of Pacelli Road, trained by D.K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unable to get a clear run at any time in the straight in this race.

276C Crowne Plaza Hotel Race & Stay Nursery Handicap & The Stewards interviewed Patrick G. Harney, trainer of Cilicia, in relation to the saddling of his charge in this race where it was observed in the parade ring that the filly was wearing the incorrect number cloth.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, and also from Ion Hamilton, Turf Club Clerk of the Scales.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that there was a breach of Rules 198(ii) and 199 and therefore reminded both persons concerning their responsibilities in their respective roles as covered by these Rules.

W.J. Lee, rider of Main Straits (GB), trained by T. Stack, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount met with interference on two separate occasions before the entrance to the straight and was eased after his chance was clearly gone.

276F Dundalk Stadium On Facebook Handicap & Sabrina J. Harty, trainer of Bravely Fought, reported to the Stewards’ Secretaries that her charge scoped badly post race.

277B Fairyhouse Premier Jump Racing Weekend Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed E.J. O’Connell, rider of Bank Bonus (GB), unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that E.J. O’Connell was in breach of R10(3)(b) in that he had used his whip when his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone and R10(3)(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive force.
Having taken his previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for two race days (26th and 27th October).

The Stewards interviewed A. Ring, rider of Black Waterfall (GB), unplaced, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that A. Ring was in breach of R10(3)(b) in that he had used his whip when his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone and R10(3)(f) in that he had used his whip with excessive force.
Having taken his clean previous record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (26th October).

A. Ring, rider of Black Waterfall (GB), trained by P.J. Rothwell, reported at the Stewards’ Enquiry that his mount received interference before the second last hurdle and as a result lost some ground.

The Stewards fined John M. Burke, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Benefit Days in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.

277C Become A Member Of Fairyhouse 2014 Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards enquired into an incident between the last hurdle and the winning post involving Fantasy King (GB), ridden by Andrew J. McNamara, placed second, Takestan, ridden by P.A. Gallagher, placed fifth, Tisamystery, ridden by A.E. Lynch, and Theonewiththeleg, ridden by B.J. Cooper, both unplaced.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no action other than to advise Andrew J. McNamara to ride with more care and furthermore, advised both P.A. Gallagher and A.E Lynch that their evidence should have been presented in a more accurate manner.

R. Walsh, rider of Hold Em Cowboy, trained by Gordon Elliot, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount received bad interference as a result of the fall of Andalucia Lady at the sixth hurdle in this race.

277D Fairyhouse Event Centre Maiden Hurdle & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Blue Town, trained by John G. Carr, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

277E fairyhouse.ie Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Andrew Lynch, trainer of the winner Lapse Of Reason, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s recent form.
The trainer reported that his charge missed the break the last day at Galway, 10th September and could not get competitive and may have resented the application of a tongue strap. Today the animal ran without a tongue strap and had cheek pieces applied instead. In his opinion this change of equipment may have contributed to the improved run.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted its content.

B.J. Cooper, rider of Vicalus, trained by Miss Susan A. Finn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran very keen to the start and never travelled throughout the race.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Vicalus at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

R. Walsh, rider of Ringfort, trained by D.J. Barry, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount possibly never handled today’s ground.

277F Fairyhouse Racecourse For Fundraisers Beginners Steeplechase & Mr P.W. Mullins, rider of Primroseandblue, trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.

Curragh Meeting, 13th October 2013

278C John O’Sullivan Lifetime In Racing Achievement Waterford Testimonial Stakes & The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Leitir Mor, trained by J.S Bolger, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be coughing post race.

E. Lynam, trainer of Boston Rocker, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge showed signs of being in season post race.

278F Tote Super Trifeca Irish Cesarewitch & The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving the winner Montefeltro (GB), ridden by Robert Tart, Marchese Marconi, ridden by J.P. O’Brien, placed second, and Call Me Bubbles (FR), ridden by W.J. Lee, placed third, after it appeared that Call Me Bubbles and Marchese Marconi both suffered interference.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that Robert Tart was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly.
Having taken his good record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for three race days (1st, 3rd and 8th October).

Limerick Meeting, 13th October 2013

The Stewards fined the following trainers in respect of their non-runners:-.

279C McMahon.ie Building Provider & Home Improvements Mares Maiden Hurdle & The Stewards requested a report from Barry Ryan, authorised representative for the trainer T. E. Hyde, trainer of the winner Emily Gray, regarding the apparent improvement in form of the horse compared with the animal’s recent form.
Mr Barry stated that on her previous run at Downpatrick, she was spooked at the start after another horse hit the railing and as a result subsequently lost her position and seemed to struggle thereafter. A trouble free run today, had in his opinion brought about today’s improved performance.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.

279D Oakbruce Properties Handicap Hurdle & A.D. Leigh, rider of The Bulger, trained by Sean Byrne, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount had never managed to stay the trip and was therefore ridden with different tactics today, out the back, which seemed to favour his mount.

279E Pricewaterhousecoopers Steeplechase & The Stewards enquired into the late withdrawal at 3.51 p.m of Benefficient from this race and Gift Of Dgab from the Ladbrokes Munster National Handicap Steeplechase, both trained by A.J. Martin, where coughing was offered as the reason.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned.
Mr Martin stated that he arrived around the time of the first race (2.05 p.m) and was informed around that time by his head travelling man Michael Cromwell that both of these horses had coughed. He was made aware that they had been bedded on clean shavings and did not have a muzzle applied. He admitted that he also had concerns about the ground and while he was prepared to possibly take a chance with the odd cough he had his thoughts altered when watching later races and the manner in which some runners handled the ground. During this time he was also trying to contact the animals owners but finally conceded when noting that Gift Of Dgab had a previous leg injury and he began to fear the ground. He withdrew both horses for the first known reason of coughing but did admit that he also had concerns about the ground. He also admitted that some horses had been treated recently for mucus. He apologised for his actions and accepted the implications of his late actions.
Evidence was also heard from Ms Nicola O’Connor, Turf Club Veterinary Officer, who observed both horses for a length of time determined by the Stewards following their withdrawal.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that A.J. Martin was in breach of Rule 272 and they therefore fined him €600 and cautioned him concerning his future responsibilities in this regard.

279F Ladbrokes Munster National Handicap Steeplechase & A.E. Lynch, rider of Go All The Way, trained by J.T.R. Dreaper, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount felt unsound when pulling up.

279G STL Logistics European Breeders Fund Beginners Steeplechase & John A. Supple, trainer of Roadtoabbeyfeale, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
