T. Hogan / Gems of Araby (GB) Referral

The Referrals Committee, Mr. Gordon Holmes (in the Chair), Mrs. Joan Moore and Mrs. J.O. Onions met at the Stewards Room, Curragh Racecourse, The Curragh, Co. Kildare on Wednesday, 7th June to consider a referral by Denis Egan, Chief Executive, in respect of an incident at Limerick on 13th May where the Turf Club Veterinary Officer, Ms. Joan Taylor, was unable to identify Gems of Araby (GB) from the passport provided by the trainer, Mr. T. Hogan. The matter had been referred to the Chief Executive by the Acting Stewards at Limerick for further investigation.
Evidence was heard from Mr. Hogan, who confirmed that the wrong horse was transported to Limerick in error and presented to the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.
Having considered the evidence, the Committee found Mr. Hogan in breach of Rule 148 (i) and fined him €200.
