Ms. E.A. Lalor Appeal Hearing

Ms. E.A. Lalor Appeal – Limerick, 14th March 2009

The Appeals Body, Mr. J.R. Craigie (in the Chair), Judge Tony Hunt and Mr. Philip Caffrey met in the Turf Club, The Curragh, Co. Kildare on 3rd June 2009 to consider an appeal from Ms. E.A. Lalor, Qualified Rider, against the decision of the Acting Stewards at Limerick on 14th March 2009 when, following the running of the Rockview (QR Ladies) I.N.H. Flat Race, she was suspended for two racedays for using her whip with excessive frequency and ordered to attend RACE for a one day tuition on the correct use of the whip.

Evidence was heard from Mr. Liam Walsh, Stewards Secretary, and from Ms E.A. Lalor.  Videos of the race were also viewed.

Having considered the evidence the Appeals Body dismissed the appeal and ordered that the two raceday ban remain in place (June 4th and 5th), while they also imposed costs of €150.  The Appeals Body however lifted the requirement on Ms. Lalor to attend RACE.  They also advised Ms. Lalor that she should become more familiar with the relevant Rules of Racing and I.N.H.S. Rules.

The case was presented to the Appeals Body by Mr. Denis Egan, Chief Executive of the Turf Club.
