Cork alterations ahead of Tuesday 6th August fixture
THE Turf Club has announced that, due to ongoing track remedial work at Cork Racecourse, there will be several changes to the programme of races ahead of the fixture on Tuesday, 6th August. The Mallow Apprentice Handicap, which was scheduled to be run over about five furlongs, will now be staged over six furlongs with the field maximum reduced to 14 horses. This race, along with the other two six furlong races (the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Maiden and the corkracecourse.ie Handicap), will now be run on the round course. In addition, both 12 furlong races on the programme, the Group Three Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Give Thanks Stakes and the ‘Tote Trifecta Rollover’ Handicap, will have a limit of 16 runners. All races at this fixture will finish on the sprint track in the home straight.
