The Stewards received a report from Mr. P.L. Malone , Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that D.F. O'Regan , rider of Gaoth Chuil , weighed in at 1.9 lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that he weighed out perfectly and did not change any equipment or take on any fluids. T.M. Walsh, trainer of Gaoth Chuil, stated that he saddled his charge with the exact equipment as passed at scales, namely, a nice size saddle, a black pad and a number cloth . Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that D.F. O'Regan was in breach of Rule 231 (iii) for weighing in at more than 1 lb overweight. Having taken his previous clean record into consideration, the Stewards suspended D.F. O'Regan for one raceday.
213C Claregalwayhotel.ie Irish (C&G) EBF M'dnS. Foley, rider of Pivotal Trigger (GB) trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left from three and a half furlongs out.
213D Connacht Hotel (QR) H'capMr P.A. King, rider of Monas Melody trained by S. Curling, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled and was pulled up.
Mr B.W. Harvey, rider of Call My Bluff trained by Dominic Ffrench Davis (in GB), reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stopped very quickly.
213E Claytonhotelgalway.ie H'capThe Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Lady Arwen (GB), ridden by L.T. McAteer, and Rockbury Lad (GB), ridden by L.F. Roche where it appeared that Rockbury Lad (GB) may have checked when Lady Arwen (GB) manoeuvered out to challenge. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, L.F. Roche stated that Lady Arwen (GB) had moved out but did not cause him to stop riding or check. L.T. McAteer stated that he was trying to manoeuvre his mount out when it reacted very quickly to the whip. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised L.T. McAteer to ride with more awareness.
L.F. Roche, rider of Rockbury Lad (GB) trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got no run in this race.
213F Eventus H'capThe Stewards enquired into possible interference inside the final one hundred and fifty yards involving Common Practice, ridden by D. McMonagle, placed second, and War Correspondent, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed third, where it appeared that both horses drifted left in the straight when close together. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, W.J. Lee stated that his mount was rolling around and despite changing his whip hand, he continued to do so of his own accord. D. McMonagle stated that his mount was in front from a long way out and ran around but straightened up when he changed his whip hand. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judges placings and took no further action.
S.T. McCullagh, rider of Enthrallment trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly left during this race.
J.A. Powell, rider of Active Duty (FR) trained by John Stephen O'Donoghue, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.
D. McMonagle, rider of Common Practice trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran around a bit in the straight.
R.P. Whelan, rider of Gradulations (GB) trained by A. Oliver, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stopped quickly.
