T.N. Brett, rider of Areyougoinforone trained by Ray Hackett, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran very green.
The Stewards interviewed Rachael Blackmore, rider of Toss Again, concerning her use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In her evidence, Rachael Blackmore admitted that she had exceeded the permissible limit for the use of the whip and apologised for her actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that Rachael Blackmore was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using her whip with excessive frequency. Having taken her clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Rachael Blackmore on this occasion. Mr Peter Allen, Chairman of the Acting Stewards absented himself from this enquiry and was replaced as Chairman by Dr. Colm O'Flaherty.
140C McHale Mayo H'cap H'dleThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Enniskerry, trained by Barry Connell, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race and to have a wound on his left hind coronet band.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Must Be Obeyed, trained by Thomas Gibney, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
P. Townend, rider of Dads Lad trained by W.P. Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran free during this race.
The Stewards interviewed P.T. Enright, rider of Metersandmasks, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, P.T. Enright admitted that he had exceeded the permissible limit for the use of the whip and apologised for his actions. He added that his mount had idled on the long run in from the final hurdle. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that P.T. Enright was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his recent clean record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned P.T. Enright on this occasion.
140E McHale Mayo National H'cap S'chaseThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Max Flamingo, trained by Francis Casey, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
J.W. Kennedy, rider of Max Flamingo trained by Francis Casey, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled and did not jump great before being pulled up.
D. Meyler, rider of Optical Confusion trained by Michael Butler, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount lost his action and was pulled up.
The Stewards enquired into an incident where the runners came onto the running rail after the third last fence involving Peregrine Run, ridden by S.W. Flanagan, Ilikedwayurthinkin, ridden by M.P. Walsh, Jacksons Gold, ridden by J.B. Foley and Charlie Stout, ridden by S. O'Callaghan, where it appeared the three runners on the inside of Jacksons Gold got tight for room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, M.P. Walsh stated that he jumped the third last fence well, he met the bend but was not good enough to hold his position and got squeezed from the outside. S. O'Callaghan stated that he jumped left at the third last fence which left the inner free for Peregrine Run. When he met the running rail his own mount could not hold his position. S.W. Flanagan stated that he jumped the third last fence very well, landed running and went for the inside but got tightened from the outside at that point. J.B. Foley stated that he was riding on the outside of the other runners and was trying to keep his mount straight with his whip in his right hand. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that interference had taken place at this point due to some general bunching but they could not apportion blame to any individual rider and took no further action. .
140F www.McHale.net H'cap H'dleS.W. Flanagan, rider of Cornhill Lass trained by Miss Evanna McCutcheon, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount made a very bad mistake, burst a blood vessel and was pulled up.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Cornhill Lass, trained by Miss Evanna McCutcheon, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at the nostrils post race.
140G McHale Orbital INH Flat RaceThe Stewards enquired into an incident about one hundred and fifty yards from the finish involving Art Of Silence, ridden by Mr J.C. Barry, Locorotondo, ridden by Mr P.A. King and Vadsa Queen, ridden by Mr P.W. Mullins, where it appeared that Locorotondo ran short of room and the rider momentarily stopped riding. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, Mr P.A. King stated that the gap closed when his mount was unable to hold his position and he momentarily stopped riding when Art Of Silence came onto his racing line. Mr P.W. Mullins stated that he maintained a straight course on the outside of todays fresh ground. Mr J.C. Barry stated that his mount was lairy in front and drifted left despite he trying to keep him straight and added that he was not aware of Locorotondo being close to him. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that Mr J.C. Barry was in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Mr J.C. Barry on this occasion. .
The Stewards interviewed Mr J.C. Barry, rider of Art Of Silence, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of Regulation 10 and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that Mr J.C. Barry was in breach of R10.3(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency and considering his record, they suspended him for 3 racedays.
The Stewards interviewed Mr E.P. O'Brien, rider of Western Comandor, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of Regulation 10. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that Mr. E.P. O'Brien was in breach of R10.3(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency, R10.3(h) by using his whip with his arm above shoulder height and R10.3(i) by not allowing his mount at least 3 strides to respond. Having considered his record, they suspended him for 4 racedays.
Mr D.T. Hyde, rider of Importateur (FR) trained by T.E.Hyde, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his saddle slipped with a round to go causing him to get unseated.
