A.J. Slattery, rider of Approach The Bay trained by Andrew Slattery, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel. This was confirmed by the IHRB Veterinary Officer.

306B Irish EBF Median Sires Series (C&G) M'dn

The Stewards wished to interview R.P. Whelan, rider of Brighter London, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. As R.P. Whelan had left the track and was unavailable at a later time when sought for this enquiry, the Stewards referred the matter to the Referrals Committee.

306C Solus Ceramics H'cap

J. Kearney, rider of Adapt To Dan trained by Lee Smyth, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.

S. Foley, rider of Sister Lola trained by James McAuley, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Sister Lola, trained by James McAuley, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards interviewed D. McMonagle, rider of Super Over, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. In his evidence, D. McMonagle admitted that he was in breach of the whip Regulations but explained that he had used the whip for corrective purposes while passing the horse gate and also when intimidated by his challenger. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that D. McMonagle was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with excessive frequency. Having taken his previous record into consideration, the Stewards suspended D. McMonagle for one race day.

The Stewards requested a report from D P Coakley, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Super Over, placed first, as compared with its recent runs at Leopardstown (11th August) and Galway (26th July). D.P. Coakley reported that his charge never let himself down on the ground at Leopardstown, this being reported on the day by S. Foley to the Acting Stewards. Previously at Galway, his charge had no luck in running and did not handle the track. He also felt that his charge had a liking for the surface here at Dundalk. Having considered the explanation, the Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Stewards reviewed an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Super Over, ridden by D. McMonagle, and Eglish (GB), ridden by W.J. Lee where it appeared that both horses came very close together while possibly drifting. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

306E Haughain Solicitors H'cap

J.A. Heffernan, rider of One Small Step trained by Kevin Thomas Coleman, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran keen.

S. Foley, rider of Giuseppe Cassioli (GB) trained by Gerard O'Leary, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran very keen.

C.D. Hayes, rider of Elzaam Blue trained by D.J. Bunyan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount ran very keen.

The Stewards reviewed an incident near the finish involving Cordouan (FR), ridden by C.J. MacRedmond, and Elzaam Blue, ridden by C.D. Hayes where it appeared that Cordouan (Fr) drifted towards Elzaam Blue and got close. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.

306F1 Harrison Contracts NI Apprentice H'cap

J.M. Sheridan, rider of Numidia trained by Peter Lawlor, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got bumped around in the first two furlongs.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Pro Bono, trained by J.G.Coogan, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Numidia, trained by Peter Lawlor, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Stewards enquired into an incident about one furlong from the finish involving Power Drive (GB), ridden by L.T. McAteer, and Eastern Racer, ridden by J.J.G. Ryan where it appeared that Eastern Racer drifted onto the racing line of Power Drive (GB) which checked. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, L.T. McAteer stated that his mount was tiring when Eastern Racer rolled in front of him causing him to check momentarily but not having any effect on his finishing position. J.J.G. Ryan stated that he was riding hands and heels until applying his whip but his mount rolled right before being corrected as quickly as possible. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards took no further action other than to advise J.J.G. Ryan to ride with more awareness. James Griffin accompanied J.J.G. Ryan at this enquiry.

306F2 Harrison Contracts NI Apprentice H'cap

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Cedar Rapids, trained by James McAuley, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

D. McMonagle, rider of King Arthurs Sword trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got bumped coming out of the starting stalls.

The Stewards enquired into an incident on the first bend involving King Arthurs Sword, ridden by D. McMonagle, Chequer Square, ridden by D.J Gilligan, Munfallet, ridden by S.T. McCullagh, and Shore (USA), ridden by Adam Caffrey where it appeared that Munfallet checked when Chequer Square manoeuvered inwards. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. In his evidence, D. McMonagle stated that he had the rails position when he heard shouting but his mount did not receive any interference. S.T. McCullagh stated that his mount received pressure from his outside and he had to check. D.J. Gilligan stated that he was racing to the bend when the pace steadied and his mount was close to heels when checked inwards and caused interference. Adam Caffrey stated that he took his time edging across from a wide draw and heard shouting on his inner. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards advised both D.J. Gilligan and Adam Caffrey to ride with more awareness. James Griffin accompanied D.J. Gilligan at this enquiry.

At the request of the Stewards, D. McMonagle, rider of King Arthurs Sword, trained by M.D. O'Callaghan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that he was instructed to take his time as his mount has a respiratory problem which was exposed about three furlongs from the finish, but he stayed on well in the closing stages.

306G William Rogers Construction Ltd H'cap

D. McMonagle, rider of Storm Steps trained by Patrick Martin, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away.
