The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident on the run to the 3rd last where Nurse Garvey appeared to get tight for room on the inside and had to take a check. Having reviewed the incident, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied no further action was warranted.
303C Racing TV H'cap H'dleThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined In For The Night, trained by Desmond McDonogh, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
J.P. Shinnick, rider of Crecerelle, trained by S.Wilson, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel in this race. This was subsequently confirmed by the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer.
303E J Murdoch Contracts H'cap H'dleThe Raceday Stewards received a request from W.J.Lanigan, trainer of Castle Arms Casa, to substitute the nominated rider R.J. Condon, with D.E. Mullins, due to R.J. Condon being injured. Mr. Lanigan stated that Castle Arms Casa is quite a difficult mare and D.E. Mullins was familiar with her having ridden the mare in three previous races. Mr. Lanigan said that he felt with Mr. Condon being injured and Mr. Mullins becoming available due to his mount being a non-runner, it was in the best interests of Castle Arms Casa to have a rider who was familiar with her. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards allowed the substitution on this occasion.
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Neill McCluskey, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Moneynabane, placed 1st, as compared with its recent form. Mr McCluskey reported that his charge ran previously at Warwick where he was not suited by the track. A return to Downpatrick where he has performed well in the past may have brought about any apparent improvement in form. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation.
303F C Russell Auto Sales Beginners S'chaseK.M. Donoghue, rider of Howaya C D And E, trained by Gerard Keane, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount refused to race.
The Raceday Stewards interviewed Gerard Keane, trainer concerning the behaviour of his charge Howaya C D And E, who refused to race. Mr. Keane stated Howaya C D And E has previously refused to race at Downpatrick, has also shown some reluctance at home and on her last two racecourse appearances. Having considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards suspended Howaya C D And E for 30 days in accordance with the provisions of Rule 14(iii).
303G Toals Bookmakers H'cap S'chaseThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Cathys Quest, trained by Terence O'Brien, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to have a small wound on the outside of her right hind leg and was blowing hard post race.
