The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident two furlongs out involving Academy Winner (USA), ridden by J.M. Sheridan, placed third, Rock Etoile, ridden by S. Coen, placed first, and Blue Wood, ridden by C.T. Keane, placed second, where it appeared that Academy Winner suffered interference. Sheridan stated that he was keeping straight when his mount received a bump on his hind quarters and he had to regain momentum. S. Coen stated that he panicked and acknowledged his mistake. C.T. Keane stated that he tried to keep his mount straight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found S. Coen, in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended him for three racedays. In arriving at their decision, the Raceday Stewards considered the inexperience of S.
