The Stewards authorised the following substitutions of riders at this meeting:

D. J. O'Connor replaced A.J. Casey on Temple City (GB), trained by Denis Gerard Hogan (Race 3)(unwell).

167A Irish EBF Auction Series Race

The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, that L.T. McAteer, rider of The Holy Apostle, had presented to weigh out at 2lbs overweight, none of which had been declared at declaration time. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that this was the case. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards allowed L. T. McAteer to ride The Holy Apostle on this occasion but they were satisfied that he was in breach of Rule 198 (vii)(a) and having considered his record in this regard (first offence) the Raceday Stewards fined L. T. McAteer €150 on this occasion. Mr. T. Breen was absent for this enquiry and Ms. M. Cosgrave acted as chairman.

Ian Amond, Authorised Representative for Gordon Elliott, trainer of Battle Of Maldon, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge had scoped badly post race.

167B Bulmers Live At Leopardstown H'cap

T. Casey, rider of Ina Mina (GB), trained by Michael Mulvany, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount stumbled leaving the stalls.

P. McGettigan, rider of Brains, trained by R.Donohoe, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slowly away.

167C Aer Lingus College Football Classic Hcap

The Raceday Stewards granted a request from Yvonne Latta, trainer of Everylittlestep, for an additional ten minutes to present her charge for identification by an IHRB Veterinary Officer in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident down the back straight involving Mythical Rock, ridden by J.A. Heffernan, unplaced, Rampage, ridden by J.J.G. Ryan, unplaced, Haughty (GB), ridden by M. Crehan, placed sixth, and Tilani, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed third, where it appeared Rampage ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J. A. Heffernan stated that the race was very steadily run and things got congested. J. J. G Ryan stated that things got tight and he had to take back. M. Crehan stated that the horse on his outside came in on top of him and he had to take a pull. C. D. Hayes stated that the pace slowed considerably but he did not change his line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action other than to remind C. D. Hayes of his responsibility in relation to evidence given to the Raceday Stewards.

The Raceday Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, that M. Crehan, rider of Haughty (GB), had weighed in at 1.6lbs overweight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was doing light and had a drink of water after weighing out. Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that M. Crehan was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered his record in this regard (second offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended M. Crehan for two racedays.

M.W Hassett, rider of Mathan, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount caught heels in the straight.

J. Kearney, rider of Far From Dandy, trained by Stephen Thorne, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount got tight for room in the straight.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Mathan, ridden by M.W Hassett, unplaced, Wizard Of Odds, ridden by J.A. Powell, placed sixth, Far From Dandy, ridden by J. Kearney, placed fifth, Adrienne, ridden by C.D. Hayes, placed fourth, and Ja'marr (GB), ridden by L.T. McAteer, placed third, where it appeared Mathan got squeezed out and clipped a heel. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. M. W. Hassett stated that things got tight and he clipped a heel. J. A. Powell stated that his mount was getting tired and he kept as straight as he could and corrected as quick as he could. J. Kearney stated that he had no where to go. C. D. Hayes stated that he held his line and received a bump from his inside. L. T. McAteer stated that he kept fairly straight and felt he did not cause any interference. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action. Mr. John Murphy recused himself from this enquiry.

167E1 Jerry Fish H'cap

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Smaoineamh Sile (GB), trained by John C. McConnell, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be coughing post race.

K.G. Kennedy, rider of May Night (GB), trained by S.M.Duffy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount took a check turning in.

J.J.G. Ryan, rider of Churchill Gale, trained by T.G.McCourt, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung right throughout.

N.M. Crosse, rider of Tall River, trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped right from the gates.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident turning in involving May Night (GB), ridden by K.G. Kennedy, unplaced, and Cabot Sq, ridden by C.D. Hayes, unplaced, where it appeared May Night had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. K. G. Kennedy stated that he was outpaced throughout and starting to stay on when he ran up on heels and had to check. C. D. Hayes stated that his race was run and he was trying to hold his mount together as it retreated. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed D.J. O'Connor, rider of El Bello (GB), concerning his use of the whip in the losing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted that he was in breach of the regulation and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that D. J. O'Connor was in breach of Regulation 10.3.g (excessive frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (third offence) the Raceday Stewards suspended D. J. O'Connor for eight racedays. D. J. O'Connor was accompanied at this enquiry by Mr. Ger Flynn.

167E2 Jerry Fish H'cap

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Mark Fahey, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Noble Andy, placed first, as compared with its recent form. Mark Fahey stated that his charge is a frustrating type and they have varied the headgear and today they dropped him in and he got a clear run. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the content of the report.

The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Gerard O'Leary, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Star Mind (GB), placed second, as compared with its recent form. Gerard O'Leary stated that a stiff track today coupled with learning more about his charges' ideal trip had helped to bring about the appareant improvement in form. Having considered the report the Raceday Stewards noted the content of the report.

167F Irish Champions Festival M'dn

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Carthusian, trained by Mrs John Harrington, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.

The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Paul Henry, trained by A.P.O'Brien, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard post race.

S.T. McCullagh, rider of Carthusian, trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled.

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Crosshaven (GB), trained by John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that it was a messy race.

D.P. McDonogh, rider of Drivers Seat (GB), trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received bad interference from the winner approximately five furlongs from home.

C.D. Hayes, rider of Red King, trained by A. Oliver, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount leaned right in the straight.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approximately five furlongs from home involving Drivers Seat (GB), ridden by D.P. McDonogh, placed sixth, and Happy Pharoah, ridden by P.A. Harnett, placed first, where it appeared there was contact between the two. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. P. McDonogh stated that he held his line when the horse on his inside wanted to come out. P. A. Harnett stated that he edged out as he wanted more room for his mount who is a very big horse. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action other than to remind P. A. Harnett to ride with more patience in the future if in a similar situation.

167G Leopardstown Members (QR) M'dn

Mr F.R. Buckley, rider of Ceol Draiochta, trained by E.Buckley, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was slowly away.
