Sam Ewing, rider of Crystal Dawn trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount stopped quickly.

The Stewards interviewed P.A. Harnett, rider of Tony The Gent, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered evidence from the rider, who stated that he had moved across early and had heard some shouting on his inside which made him straighten up briefly before moving across again, the Stewards were of the opinion that P.A. The Stewards requested a report from Leanne Breen, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Ahundrednotout (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. Leanne Breen stated that she only acquired the animal in December 2020 and on its first run for her where it was returning from a lay off it had run well until about two furlongs from home and in her opinion had improved for the run. She added that the application of cheekpieces today, to help it concentrate, coupled with the outside draw, which meant that he was not crowded early on, may have helped to bring about the apparent improvement in form. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation given.

Coen stated that his mount had jumped from the gates and travelled well but didn't pick up and put the race to bed. He added that although he felt that his mount was intimidated by the winner he did not feel that it had cost him anything. T.P. Madden stated that his mount was very green on only its second start and that she hung a little right but he had straightened her up. The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Falsaron, ridden by M.P. Sheehy, placed fifth, Star Harbour, ridden by G.M. Ryan, placed first and Barretstown, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed second, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. M.P. Sheehy stated that he took a precautionary check but he was going backwards anyway. W.J. Lee stated that he was in a head to head battle but in the last hundred yards the winner was constantly moving to the left and severely intimidated his mount. G.M. Ryan stated that his horse is a big raw horse who rolled around when he hit the front, he dropped his whip and he did not realise he gad drifted off a straight line as much. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Star Harbour had caused interference to Barretstown and in doing so had improved its position in relation to the second horse. The Stewards therefore reversed the placings of the first and second horses. Furthermore, The Stewards were satisfied that G.M. Ryan was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered G.M. Ryan's record in this regard the Stewards suspended G.M. Ryan for three racedays. The amended result now reads:-
1st: Barretstown

Hayes, placed fifth and Arctic Blaze, ridden by O.J. Orr, placed fourth, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D. McMonagle stated that his mount has a history of hanging left and he had his whip in the correct hand and was making every effort to keep her straight. He added that he was aware of the horses on his inside and had heard Mr. Hayes shout. C.D. Hayes stated that his mount did not have the pace to hold his position and that while there was minor contact between his mount and Mr. McMonagle's mount he felt it did not cost him anything. O.J. Orr stated that he received no contact and although Mr. McMonagle's mount had crossed him, it had not caused him to check. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that any interference caused was accidental in nature and they made no alteration to the Judge's placings and took no further action.

The Stewards received a report later in the day that Chief Of Police, trained by Oliver McKiernan had run in blinkers and not cheek pieces as declared.
