The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Five Helmets, trained by Gavin Cromwell, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
092B Pigsback.com H'cap S'chaseThe Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Jungle Junction, trained by Mrs John Harrington, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
R.M. Power, rider of Jungle Junction trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled during this race.
092C Mongey Communications Schase (La Touche)The Stewards enquired into an incident after jump 10 "The Mongey Stone Wall" involving Some Neck (FR), ridden by Mr B.W. Harvey, Alpha Des Obeaux (FR), ridden by Mr J.J. Codd, pulled up and Call It Magic, ridden by K.M. Donoghue, where it appeared that these runners ran wide approaching a direction post. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr J.J. Codd stated that he was racing on the hind quarters of Call It Magic and on realising what was happening, he had insufficient time to alter course and ran out resulting in him pulling up. K.M. Donoghue stated that he had familiarised himself with the course layout prior to racing but had a lapse when approaching the direction post and momentarily decided to go outside the direction post before quickly correcting his mount back onto the correct course. Mr B.W. Harvey stated that he had realised where he was going wrong and quickly tried to correct his mount back onto the correct course which he achieved but lost ground in so doing. Having viewed the recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards accepted the rider's explanations and took no further action.
The Stewards received a report from the Clerk of the Scales, Mr P.L. Malone, regarding the failure of Mr J.J. Codd, rider of Alpha Des Obeaux (FR), to weigh in after this race having pulled up during the course of the race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who stated that he was most disappointed with the outcome for his mount and returned early to the weighroom having pulled up. He accepted that his failure to present himself at scales as required by rule was an oversight on his part. Having considered the evidence the Stewards were satisfied that Mr J.J. Codd was in breach of Rule 227 (i) by failing to present himself at scales to weigh in having pulled up during the course of the race. Having taken his clean previous record into consideration, the Stewards cautioned Mr J.J. Codd on this occasion and reminded him of his responsibility to comply with Rule 227 (i) in any future similar situation
K.M. Donoghue, rider of Call It Magic trained by Ross O'Sullivan, reported to the Clerk of Scales that between jumps 10 and 11 he steered his mount to the right of a direction post and reacted too late to switch back to the correct course without coming to a halt.
The Stewards enquired into the failure of P.J. Rothwell to declare a 5lb penalty as required by Rule 194(ii)(a) for his charge Singing Banjo following his win here at Punchestown two days ago. P.J. Rothwell accepted that he had failed in his responsibity to comply with the relevent rule. Having considered all the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that P.J. Rothwell was in breach of Rule 194 (ii)(a) and fined him €200 having taken his clean previous record into consideration.
S.W. Flanagan, rider of Ballyboker Bridge trained by Peter Maher, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount slipped up independently.
092D Ladbrokes Champion Stayers H'dlePrior to the meeting, the Stewards approved a request from Clerk of the Course, Mr. B. Sheridan, to amend the distance of this race to about 2 miles 7 furlongs and 170 yards due to rail alignment.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Flooring Porter, trained by Gavin Cromwell, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
J.M. Moore, rider of Flooring Porter trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung very badly to the left and was pulled up.
J.W. Kennedy, rider of Fury Road trained by Mrs Denise Foster, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount was never travelling during this race and was pulled up.
092E Conway Piling H'cap H'dlePrior to the meeting, the Stewards approved a request from Clerk of the Course, Mr. B. Sheridan, to amend the distance of this race to about 2 miles 7 furlongs and 170 yards due to rail alignment.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Lynwood Gold, trained by Mrs John Harrington, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for analysis.
The Stewards received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Starter, Mr J.R. Banahan, that J.C. Gainford, rider of Dallas Des Pictons (FR), K.J. Brouder, rider of Minx Tiara and K.C. Sexton, rider of Carrolls Cottage had failed to comply with his request to walk in an orderly manner to the marker poles with their actions resulting in a false start being called. Evidence was heard from the starter and riders concerned. Mr Banahan stated that a number of riders tried to restrain their mounts at his request but the three riders mentioned had disobeyed him which resulted in a false start having to be called. J.C. Gainford stated that his mount was wearing blinkers and he had tried to do his best to comply with the starter. K.J. Brouder stated that in his opinion other horses had preceded him to the marker poles and he was following in the pack. K.C. Sexton stated that he had not encouraged his mount to go any faster than a walk but was taken out of the saddle with his mounts eagerness to get racing. Having viewed a recording of the incident and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that J.C. Gainford, K.J. Brouder and K.C. Sexton were in breach of Rule 208 by failing to comply with the instructions of the Starter. Having taken their good previous records into consideration, the Stewards cautioned the three riders on this occasion.
092G Close Brothers (Mares) Novice H'dleJ.W. Kennedy, rider of Bigbadandbeautiful trained by Mrs Denise Foster, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not jump well.
