084A(i) New Spring Two Day N.H. Meeting Mdn Hdl (Division One)

The Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Not So Bad Lad, trained by Andrew Lynch, for failing to present the animal on time, in accordance with the provisions of Rule 90 (i).

The Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages of this race involving Hymie Weiss, ridden by S.W. Flanagan, placed second, Mylestown Upper (FR), ridden by Mr J.J. Codd, placed first, Stilyker, ridden by Shane Fenelon, placed third and Wrong Way Harry, ridden by D.J. McInerney, placed sixth, where it appeared that interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S.W. Flanagan stated that he was hampered and felt he would have won without the interference. Mr. J.J. Codd stated that his mount was hanging but admitted that he had mistimed his manoeuvre to the rail and apologised for his actions. Shane Fenelon stated that he had suffered minor interference and it had not cost him anything. D.J. McInerney stated that he was badly hampered but his race was run and he was unable to hold his position. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that Mylestown Upper had caused interference to Hymie Weiss, Stilyker and Wrong Way Harry and in doing so had improved its finishing position in relation to the second horse. The Stewards therefore reversed the placings of the first and second horses. Furthermore, the Stewards were satisfied that Mr. J.J. Codd was in breach of Rule 214, in that he had ridden carelessly. Having considered Mr. J.J. Codd's record in this regard the Stewards suspended Mr. J.J. Codd for two racedays,
Amended result now reads:
1st: Hymie Weiss
2nd: Mylestown Upper
3rd: Stilyker
4th: Massons Castle
5th: Hgranca De Thaix
6th: Wrong Way Ha.

The Stewards enquired into an incident on the home bend involving Buck's Billionaire (FR), ridden by Mr P.W. Mullins, placed second and Not Available, ridden by Rachael Blackmore, placed first, where it appeared that Buck's Billionaire had to check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr. P.W. Mullins stated that he had to briefly check but it had not cost him anything. Rachael Blackmore stated that her mount hung in when it passed the other horse but she pulled her stick through and corrected her mount as quickly as possible. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that any interference caused was accidental in nature and they took no further action.
