016D BetVictor H'cap S'chaseThe Stewards enquired into possible interference in the straight involving Fakir D'alene (FR), ridden by Mr R. James, placed first, and Donkey Years, ridden by M.P. Walsh, placed second, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Mr. R. James stated that while his mount did lean out he felt it made no difference to the result. M.P. Walsh stated that he received a bump before the last and again received interference after the last on the run to the line. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that while Fakir D'alene had caused interference to Donkey Years, he did not improve his finishing position as a result of this interference so they made no alteration to the Judge’s placings. They were, however, of the opinion that Mr. R. James, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard the Stewards cautioned him on this occasion.

Dempsey felt he kept his racing line throughout the bend and didn't receive any interference.
