Turf Club Introduce New Non-Runner Facility
The Turf Club has announced that they are to introduce a new facility in addition to the present procedure already contained in the Rules for trainers to notify Stewards of a Meeting of any horse unable to fulfil it’s engagement on any raceday. Trainers will now be able to call a dedicated non-runner telephone line (045 445645) at the Office of the Governing Bodies with the excuse for non-running. Commencement date will be Wednesday, 6th June until the new service is reviewed on 7th August 2007.
For reasons of validation regarding the information furnished, the caller will be asked to provide the trainer’s Horse Racing Ireland account number and his date of birth. Veterinary certificates, where required, must be sent as usual to the Office of the Governing Bodies within 72 hours. Failure to do so within that time frame would render a trainer liable to a fine. For the avoidance of doubt, the Turf Club is keen to stress that, when a trainer chooses to notify a non-runner through the Office of the Governing Bodies, the only acceptable method shall be by telephone on the dedicated line number. All calls will be recorded for verification and security purposes.
The dedicated line number 045 445645 will be in operation on the relevant race day until one and a half hours before the scheduled time of the first race. The line will be open from 9am for racemeetings held on Monday to Friday, at 10am for meetings held on Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays and from 12 noon for Saturday evening fixtures.
