INHSC release provisional summary for the 2022 Autumn Point to Point Season

The Stewards of the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee (INHSC) have today released the full provisional summary of Point to Point races for the 2022 Autumn Season, which can be viewed here.

The 2022 Autumn Season which contains 30 fixtures will commence on Saturday 1st October and conclude on Sunday 11th December.

Following on from the successful introduction of the Autumn Novice Riders Series in 2021, which continued with a Spring Series, the INHSC are sponsoring a similar series once again this Autumn. Points will be awarded to riders of the first four placed horses in each of the 14 scheduled races confined to novice riders, with a prize on offer to the overall leading novice rider of a €1,000 voucher, the second and third placed riders will receive vouchers of €300 and €200 respectively.

In addition to the Novice Riders Series, the INHSC will also sponsor a race with a bonus of €1,500 at the Golden Vale (F) fixture on Sunday 20th November which is confined to Point to Point Handlers who held a Permit during the 2021/22 season and have not trained more than 10 winners under any Rules of Racing or Steeplechasing, including Point to Point Steeplechases in any country.

The INHSC will continue to support its promotion of maiden races for horses aged 6yo & upwards and have increased to €1,500, the bonus on offer to the winning owners of the 6yo & upwards maidens at the fixtures scheduled for Iveagh (F) on Saturday 8th October, Tipperary (F) Lisronagh on Saturday 5th November and Carlow Farmers (F) on Sunday 11th December.

Commenting on the Autumn 2022 Provisional Summary of Point to Point races, Senior Steward of the INHSC, Martin O’Donnell said:

“The Stewards are pleased to once again sponsor the Autumn Novice Riders Series which was a great success following its introduction last Autumn, in highlighting our younger riders on a weekly basis throughout the Season. It is vitally important that we can retain the numbers of 6yo’s and older horses competing in Point to Points and consequently the INHSC is also supporting a race for this category of horse in each month of the Autumn Season.”
