The following trainer were fined €200 in each case for the non-notification of a Veterinary Certificate in accordance with the provision of Rule 194 (v) (vi):-M.F. Morris for Rathlin (GB) (injured) at Cork on 21st March and Robert Tyner for Dushrembrandt (lame) at Cork on 21st March.
Clonmel Meeting, 28th March 2013
The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:-.
Mr J.T. Carroll replaced Mr J.J. Codd on Thistle Lily, trained by Denis W Cullen (Race 7) Injured.
059B Easter Holiday Maiden Hurdle & M.J. Ferris, rider of Melame, trained by W.J. Burke, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran free early on, weakened quickly and was pulled up.
D.J. Condon, rider of Jimmy the Hat, trained by Gordan Elliott, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped slowly and will benefit from better ground.
059D Slievenamon Mares Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards granted permission for the second last fence to be omitted from this race and from the remaining steeplechases at today’s meeting in the interest of safety due to ground conditions.
C.D. Maxwell, rider of Presenting Kate, trained by Dermot Anthony McLoughlin, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a respiratory noise in running.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Back In A Tic, trained by Colin Kidd, was found to have a bad overreach of his right fore post race.
Dundalk Meeting, 28th March 2013
054D Irish News Boot Room Handicap & K.J. Manning, rider of Strapless, trained by J.S. Bolger, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount lost her action in the straight.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Strapless at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
F.M. Berry, rider of Sakhib (GB), trained by Eoin Griffin , reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his foot became entangled in the breast girth during this race and he was unable to ride out safely. He reported that, as a result of this, he pulled up his mount.
054F Irish News Hitting The Target Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the final furlong involving Paddy The Celeb, ridden by M.M. Monaghan, placed third, and Tribes And Banner, ridden by W.J. Lee, placed fifth, after it appeared that interference took place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards cautioned M.M. Monaghan to be more careful in future.
054G Irish News Club Call Handicap & The Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving the winner Buccaneer Bob, ridden by W.J. Lee, Colla Pier, ridden by R.P. Cleary, Fabbiaano, ridden by P.J. Smullen, and Khan Tengri, ridden by L.F. Roche, all unplaced, after it appeared that interference had taken place. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards found any interference to be accidental in nature and therefore took no further action.
Cork Meeting, 30th March 2013
060A Mallow Town Summer BBQ Evening July 12th Handicap & C.D. Hayes, rider of Katchy Lady (GB), trained by P.J. Prendergast, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount stumbled on leaving the stalls in this race.
060B Cork Stakes Race & The Stewards interviewed A. Nicholls, rider of Inexile, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered evidence, the Stewards cautioned A. Nicholls concerning his responsibility to comply with Rule 211(a).
A. Nicholls, rider of Inexile, trained by David Nicholls (in GB), reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled on today’s tacky ground.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Inexile was found to be post race normal.
The Stewards interviewed M.A. Cleere, rider of An Saighdiur, unplaced, concerning the fact that he appeared to move across before reaching the marker poles.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered evidence, the Stewards cautioned M.A. Cleere concerning his responsibility to comply with Rule 211(a).
060E Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Fillies Maiden & The Stewards informed D.K. Weld, trainer of Khothry, that his charge would have to be re-certified before being declared to run from stalls again.
060F Mallow.ie Apprentice Handicap & The Stewards interviewed C.P. Hoban, rider of Amazing Star, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the last two strides of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who stated that, in his opinion, what may have looked like a possible hit in front of the saddle was in fact his final throw of the reins with the whip forward in an attempt to win in a tight finish.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that C.P. Hoban had used his whip in front of the saddle but in an accidental manner and they therefore took no further action.
060G Best Dressed Lady & Gent (C&G) Maiden & W.J. Lee, rider of Majestic Secret, trained by Miss Susan A. Finn, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was keen early on in the race, changed his legs in the straight and tired in the closing stages.
The Stewards fined Miss Susan A. Finn, €130 for lodging a passport in respect of Majestic Secret in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer’s written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
Cork Meeting, 31st March 2013
The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of riders at this meeting:-.
A.P. Heskin replaced E.J .O’Connell on Abbey Rock, trained by Miss Mary Louise Hallahan (Race 6) Injured.
Mr P.W. Mullins rode The Job Is Right (GB), trained by Michael Hourigan (Race 7) (Stewards Permission – See Enquiry).

061C Munster Waste Management Handicap Hurdle & The Stewards interviewed B.T. O’Connell, rider of Whiskey And Rye, placed second, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that B.T. O’Connell had used the whip with his arm above shoulder height (R.10 3(g)).
Having taken his record in this regard into account, the Stewards therefore suspended him for one race day (??).
Patrick Carey, trainer of Summers King, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race.
061D Easter Handicap Hurdle & Jason Maguire, rider of Born In Fire (FR), trained by M.F. Morris, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount never travelled in this race.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Born In Fire (FR) was found to be post race normal.
M.A. Enright, rider of Odonimee, trained by Laurence James Butler, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost her action and was therefore pulled up.
061E Imperial Call Steeplechase & Paul John Gilligan, trainer of Rinroe, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his charge was found to have a burst blood vessel post race. This was confirmed to the Stewards by the Turf Club Veterinary Officer.
061F Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Beginners Steeplechase & The Stewards requested a report from Michael Hourigan, trainer of the winner A Fine Young Man, regarding the apparent improvement in form of his charge compared with the horse’s recent form.
The trainer reported that his charge disappointed in his last race at Fairyhouse when he was well beaten over two miles and five furlongs. He added that today’s slightly less competitive race on a course that the horse had previously shown good form on had helped the animal to return to his best. He concluded by stating that his horses seem to be running well now having previously been out of form.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanations offered.
Niall P. Madden, rider of El Mondo (FR), trained by Niall Madden, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount settled towards the rear, jumped well and made up ground before weakening quickly in the straight.
061G corkracecourse.ie (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Michael Hourigan, trainer of The Job Is Right (GB), regarding the fact that he failed to nominate a rider in accordance with the provisions of Regulation 3-1.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned, who stated that with four point to points and two race meetings on today he was unable to secure a rider on time for his charge.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards allowed the request for The Job Is Right to be ridden by Mr. P.W. Mullins, while they also reminded Mr Hourigan of his future responsibilities in this regard.
Mr. M. O.’Driscoll and Mr. J. McGuire, Acting Stewards, did not attend this enquiry.
The Stewards enquired from B. Cawley, rider of Sunsetstorise, in regard to his fall on the turn into the straight in this race.
The rider reported that his charge stumbled independently and fell.
Having considered the report, the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
Fairyhouse Meeting, 31st March 2013
The Stewards authorised the following nomination and substitution of rider at this meeting:-.
B.J. Geraghty replaced B.J. Cooper on To The Sky, trained by Ms. Joanna Morgan (Race 5) Injured.
062B Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Mares Novice Hurdle Championship Final & The Stewards enquired into an incident before the turn for home involving the winner Annie Power, ridden by R. Walsh, Glens Melody, ridden by D.J. Casey, placed second, and Top Madam, ridden by D.J. Condon, placed fourth, after it appeared that interference had taken place.
Evidence was heard from the riders concerned.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards deemed any interference to be accidental in nature and they therefore took no further action.
062F Powers Gold Cup Steeplechase & The Stewards received a request from Mrs John Harrington, trainer of Oscars Well, to substitute the nominated rider R.M. Power with B.J. Geraghty.
Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned.
Having considered the evidence, the Stewards denied the request.
Dr. P. Molony, Acting Steward, was not present for this enquiry.
062G Ryans Cleaning (Pro/Am) I.N.H. Flat Race & The Stewards interviewed Miss S. O’Brien, rider of Carriganog, placed fourth, after it appeared she took the wrong course.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who admitted her horse ran off the course and went the wrong side of the last wing. She apologised for failing to pull up after this.
Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards, using their powers under Rule 262 (iv), disqualified Carriganog from fourth place and amended the result to read as follows:- First: The Tullow Tank, Second: Real Steel, Third: Timesremembered, and Fourth: Lagan Canal.
Furthermore, the Stewards were of the opinion that Miss S. O’Brien was in breach of Rule 215 (ii) in that she failed to pull up after taking the wrong course.
Having taken her record into account, the Stewards therefore cautioned her regarding her future responsibilities in this regard.
