006D Lawlor's Of Naas Novice H'dle
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Grangeclare West, trained by W.P. Mullins, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be blowing hard and had coughed a few times post race.
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident on the turn into the straight involving Dawn Rising, ridden by J.J. Slevin, and Grangeclare West, ridden by P. Townend where it appeared Grangeclare West made contact with the rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. J.J. Slevin stated that the sun was an issue as he was wearing clear goggles and his horse leaned it a little on the bend. P. Townend stated that it was tight enough on the point of the bend and he clipped the rail. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found J.J. Slevin was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his record in this regard the Raceday Stewards cautioned him.
Owing to the low trajectory of the sun, the Raceday Stewards granted permission for for hurdles 1 + 2 to be omitted for this race.
006E INH Stallion Owners EBF M'dn H'dleJ.C. Gainford, rider of Atacanter trained by Ross O'Sullivan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped green.
006F Adare Manor Opportunity H'cap H'dleP.J. O'Hanlon, rider of Reflectionist (FR) trained by David Peter Dunne, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount didn't handle the ground.
006G Fifty Stars (Pro-Am) INH Flat RaceThe Raceday Stewards interviewed Mr R.L. McCrory, rider of Ardad Derek (GB), concerning his use of the whip in closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned, who accepted that he was in breach of Regulation 10 and apologised for his actions. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Mr. R.L. McCrory was in breach of Regulation 10.3(b)(out of contention) and having considered his record they suspended for one raceday.
